ReviewPast, Present, and Future of Lipid Resuscitation Therapy.
Lipid resuscitation therapy was identified in 1998 as an effective treatment for local anesthetic systemic toxicity in an animal model. Since the original observation, the field has progressed tremendously with successful clinical translation and expansion of use to treatment of other types of drug overdose. Recent work has expanded our understanding of the mechanism of this novel treatment, one that includes both a dynamic scavenging component and direct cardiotonic effect. In this review, we discuss the past, present, and future of lipid resuscitation therapy with a focus on our understanding of the mechanism and directions that the field is moving, both from a clinical and basic research side.

Clinical Outcomes in Critically Ill Patients Associated With the Use of Complex vs Weight-Only Predictive Energy Equations.
The energy intake goal is important to achieving energy intake in critically ill patients, yet clinical outcomes associated with energy goals have not been reported. ⋯ These data suggest that higher energy intake is important to survival and time to discharge alive. However, the analysis was limited by actual energy intake <70% of goal. Delivery of full goal intake will be needed to determine the relationship between the method of determining energy goal and clinical outcomes.

Multicenter StudyImplementing the PEP uP Protocol in Critical Care Units in Canada: Results of a Multicenter, Quality Improvement Study.
Previous studies have documented widespread iatrogenic underfeeding in intensive care unit (ICU) patients. In an experimental setting, we demonstrated the safety and efficacy of a novel enteral feeding protocol designed to overcome the main barriers to adequate delivery of enteral nutrition (EN), the Enhanced Protein-Energy Provision via the Enteral Route Feeding Protocol (PEP uP protocol). The purpose of this article is to describe our experience with implementing this feeding protocol under "real-world" settings in Canada. ⋯ In the real-life setting, the PEP uP protocol can improve the delivery of EN to critically ill patients.
