HCV core antigen as an alternative to HCV RNA testing in the era of direct-acting antivirals: retrospective screening and diagnostic cohort studies.
Direct-acting antivirals for chronic hepatitis C (HCV) infection have reduced the need for on-treatment HCV RNA monitoring. We assessed the accuracy and cost implications of using HCV core antigen testing to replace HCV RNA testing for confirmation of diagnosis, on-treatment monitoring, and determination of sustained virological response (SVR). ⋯ Abbott Diagnostics and Toronto Centre for Liver Disease.

Meta AnalysisComparative efficacy and tolerability of pharmacological agents for management of mild to moderate ulcerative colitis: a systematic review and network meta-analyses.
The majority of patients with ulcerative colitis have mildly to moderately active disease. To inform the management of patients with left-sided or extensive mildly to moderately active ulcerative colitis, we assessed the comparative efficacy and tolerability of different therapies. ⋯ None.

An educate, test, and treat programme towards elimination of hepatitis C infection in Egypt: a community-based demonstration project.
Egypt has one of the highest prevalences and burdens of hepatitis C virus (HCV) worldwide, and a large government treatment programme. However, identifying and treating people who are infected in rural communities can be a substantial challenge. We designed and evaluated a comprehensive community-led outreach programme for prevention, testing, and treatment of HCV infection in one village in northern Egypt, with the goal to eliminate HCV infection from all adult villagers, and as a model for potential adoption in rural settings. ⋯ Egyptian Liver Research Institute and Hospital.

Randomized Controlled TrialNab-paclitaxel plus gemcitabine with or without capecitabine and cisplatin in metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PACT-19): a randomised phase 2 trial.
Current treatment for metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma includes combination chemotherapy, such as FOLFIRINOX or nab-paclitaxel plus gemcitabine. We investigated the activity of a novel four-drug regimen, consisting of cisplatin, nab-paclitaxel, capecitabine, and gemcitabine, compared with nab-paclitaxel plus gemcitabine, in the PACT-19 trial. ⋯ Celgene.

Randomized Controlled TrialMutation burden and other molecular markers of prognosis in colorectal cancer treated with curative intent: results from the QUASAR 2 clinical trial and an Australian community-based series.
Molecular indicators of colorectal cancer prognosis have been assessed in several studies, but most analyses have been restricted to a handful of markers. We aimed to identify prognostic biomarkers for colorectal cancer by sequencing panels of multiple driver genes. ⋯ UK Technology Strategy Board, National Institute for Health Research Oxford Biomedical Research Centre, Cancer Australia Project, Cancer Council Victoria, Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, Victorian Government.
