Clinical TrialMolecular fluorescence-guided surgery of peritoneal carcinomatosis of colorectal origin: a single-centre feasibility study.
Optimum cytoreductive surgery combined with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) is essential for the curative treatment of peritoneal carcinomatosis of colorectal origin. At present, surgeons depend on visual inspection and palpation for tumour detection. Improved detection of tumour tissue using molecular fluorescence-guided surgery could not only help attain a complete cytoreduction of metastatic lesions, but might also prevent overtreatment by avoiding resection of benign lesions. ⋯ FP-7 Framework Programme BetaCure and SurgVision BV.

Observational StudySymptoms and patient factors associated with diagnostic intervals for pancreatic cancer (SYMPTOM pancreatic study): a prospective cohort study.
Pancreatic cancer is the tenth most common cancer in the UK; however, outcomes are poor, in part due to late diagnosis. We aimed to identify symptoms and other clinical and sociodemographic factors associated with pancreatic cancer diagnosis and diagnostic intervals. ⋯ National Institute for Health Research and Pancreatic Cancer Action.

Development and validation of a dynamic outcome prediction model for paracetamol-induced acute liver failure: a cohort study.
Early, accurate prediction of survival is central to management of patients with paracetamol-induced acute liver failure to identify those needing emergency liver transplantation. Current prognostic tools are confounded by recent improvements in outcome independent of emergency liver transplantation, and constrained by static binary outcome prediction. We aimed to develop a simple prognostic tool to reflect current outcomes and generate a dynamic updated estimation of risk of death. ⋯ Foundation for Liver Research.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyContinuous wound infiltration versus epidural analgesia after hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery (POP-UP): a randomised controlled, open-label, non-inferiority trial.
Epidural analgesia is the international standard for pain treatment in abdominal surgery. Although some studies have advocated continuous wound infiltration with local anaesthetics, robust evidence is lacking, especially on patient-reported outcome measures. We aimed to determine the effectiveness of continuous wound infiltration in hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery. ⋯ Academic Medical Centre, Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyOmbitasvir, paritaprevir, and ritonavir plus ribavirin in adults with hepatitis C virus genotype 4 infection and cirrhosis (AGATE-I): a multicentre, phase 3, randomised open-label trial.
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 4 infection is most commonly reported in sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East; however, prevalence is increasing worldwide through immigration. HCV genotype 4 accounts for 20% of all infections, but clinical trial data for treatment remain limited. We assessed the combination of two direct-acting antivirals, ombitasvir (NS5A inhibitor) and paritaprevir (NS3/4A protease inhibitor; co-dosed with ritonavir) plus ribavirin in patients with HCV genotype 4 infection and compensated cirrhosis. ⋯ AbbVie.
