Comparative StudyMissed talar neck fractures in ankle distortions.
Thirty-nine percent of the ankle and midfoot fractures in ankle distortions could be missed during initial evaluation in emergency department because of inadequate clinical and radiological evaluation in a limited time. We aimed to evaluate the follow-up and treatment outcomes of subjects with missed fractures, which were not diagnosed with plain radiographs obtained for ankle distortion, but with advanced imaging studies. ⋯ Talus fractures can lead to serious complications because of its anatomical localization. Areas with edema, tenderness or pain should be defined on physical examination, and deep palpation should be applied on the lateral aspect of the talar neck. If there is pain in this area at late examination and no fracture was reported with conventional radiographs, the possibility of missed talar fracture should be considered and the patient should be evaluated with CT or MRI.

Comparison of intra-articular hyaluronic acid injections and mud-pack therapy in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis.
Conservative treatment should be tried prior to surgical treatment in knee osteoarthritis. This study was designed to evaluate the short-term effects of mud-pack therapy on pain relief and functional improvement in knee osteoarthritis in comparison with intra-articular hyaluronic acid injections. ⋯ Treatment of knee osteoarthritis with intra-articular hyaluronic acid injections or mud-pack therapy yielded similar results in the short-term in terms of functional improvement and pain relief. Mud-pack therapy is a noninvasive, complication-free, and cost-effective alternative modality for the conservative treatment of knee osteoarthritis.

Thrust plate prosthesis for proximal femoral deformity: a series of 15 patients.
Patients with coxarthrosis and proximal femoral deformity experience problems with total hip arthroplasty. A custom-made prosthesis or a proximal osteotomy is required for such cases, and these also increase the rate of complications. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the results of the thrust plate prosthesis (TPP) in patients with deformity of the proximal femur. ⋯ TPP is a good alternative for patients with malformations of the proximal femur. The use of TPP avoids technical difficulties and a custom-made prosthesis.

The results of conservatively treated simple elbow dislocations.
Closed reduction followed by short-time immobilization is the generally accepted treatment for simple elbow dislocations. However, the number of studies concerning the results of this method is limited. In this study, the clinical and radiographic results of conservatively treated simple elbow dislocations were retrospectively evaluated. ⋯ Although closed reduction with short-term immobilization is a universally accepted method for simple elbow dislocations with excellent functional scores, it is associated with significant limitations in joint movements and a great majority of patients do not consider themselves fully recovered.

[Open reduction and K-wire fixation of mallet finger injuries: mid-term results].
We evaluated mid-term results of surgical treatment of mallet finger injuries in patients in whom close reduction was not successful. ⋯ An anatomical reduction is essential in mallet finger deformities. Open reduction and internal K-wire fixation can be preferred due to its low complication rate and ease of application in patients whose mallet deformity cannot be treated by closed reduction.
