Correlation analysis of Trial of Org 10172 in acute stroke treatment classification and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score in acute cerebral infarction with risk factors.
The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between the Trial of Org 10172 in acute stroke treatment classification and the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score of acute cerebral infarction as well as acute cerebral infarction's risk factors. ⋯ The nerve function defect is more serious after acute cerebral infarction with cardiogenic cerebral embolism, indicating a poor prognosis.

C-reactive protein to lymphocyte count ratio is a promising novel marker in hepatitis C infection: the clear hep-c study.
Chronic hepatitis C (CHC) is one of the most important health problems affecting the significant rate of world population and it may lead to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. C-reactive protein to lymphocyte count ratio (CLR) is used in estimating inflammatory burden. Therefore, this study aimed to compare CLR values between CHC patients and healthy controls and between CHC patients with and without fibrosis. ⋯ Increased CLR in patients with CHC may be an alarming finding of liver fibrosis, as CLR is associated with both CHC and hepatic fibrosis.

Role of immature granulocytes and total bilirubin values in the diagnosis of perforated appendicitis in patients over 65 years.
The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of immature granulocyte count, immature granulocyte percentage, and total bilirubin value in predicting complicated and perforated appendicitis in patients aged 65 years and older with a diagnosis of appendicitis. ⋯ The immature granulocyte percentage and total bilirubin count are the fast, inexpensive, and reliable parameters that can be used to predict complicated and perforated appendicitis in patients aged 65 years and older.

Predictors of left ventricular ejection function decline in young patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction.
A decrease in the left ventricular ejection fraction (≤40%) in the setting of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction is a significant predictor of mortality in the young ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction population. In this study, we aimed to investigate the predictors of left ventricular ejection fraction reduction and evaluate the long-term mortality rates in young ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction patients with or without decreased left ventricular ejection fraction. ⋯ In young ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction patients, lesion properties (left anterior descending lesion, proximally located lesion), no-reflow, and prolonged ischemia time appeared to be important determinants for the left ventricular ejection fraction decline, rather than coronary disease severity or demographic and hematological parameters. Statin use may be preventive in the development of left ventricular ejection fraction decline in young ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction patients.

Self-medication practices with conventional and herbal drugs among ear, nose, and throat patients.
This study evaluates the self-practices with conventional and herbal drug use among ear, nose, and throat outpatients. ⋯ This study observed a considerable prevalence of self-based practices with conventional and herbal medications. Strict national regulations on conventional and herbal medication access and long-term actions should be implemented to discourage inappropriate drug use.
