Role of immature granulocytes and total bilirubin values in the diagnosis of perforated appendicitis in patients over 65 years.
The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of immature granulocyte count, immature granulocyte percentage, and total bilirubin value in predicting complicated and perforated appendicitis in patients aged 65 years and older with a diagnosis of appendicitis. ⋯ The immature granulocyte percentage and total bilirubin count are the fast, inexpensive, and reliable parameters that can be used to predict complicated and perforated appendicitis in patients aged 65 years and older.

Time of clerkship rotations' interruption during COVID-19 and differences on Progress Test's scores.
The transition from face-to-face to remote teaching is yet to be fully understood. In clinical training, traditional teaching must prevail because it is essential for the acquisition of skills and professionalism. However, the responses of each school to the pandemic and the decision on when to resume clerkship rotations were mixed. In this study, we aimed to analyze whether the time to resume clerkship rotations was associated with the performance of the students by using a multi-institutional Progress Test. ⋯ The differences between the students' scores cannot be attributed to the time when the schools paused the clerkship rotations.

Association between acanthosis nigricans and overweight with hypertension in children and adolescents from low-income families.
This study aimed to describe the prevalence of acanthosis nigricans and high blood pressure in children and adolescents from low-income families, and to verify the association of elevated blood pressure with nutritional status and the presence of acanthosis nigricans. ⋯ Acanthosis nigricans and elevated blood pressure occurred in one-fifth and one-third of the individuals in an institution for children from low-income families. Overweight and the presence of acanthosis nigricans increased the risk of high blood pressure more than twofold.

Observational StudyKnowledge of gynecologists in the public health system care of women victims of violence.
This study aimed to evaluate the knowledge of the obstetricians and gynecologists in the care of women victims of violence in the public health system and the existence of institutional mechanisms to support them. ⋯ Most of the physicians interviewed, although reported to have sufficient knowledge to adequately treat victims of violence, did not provide such care due to lack of institutional support.

Prevalence of primary dysmenorrhea and associated factors in adult women.
This study aimed to assess the prevalence and factors associated with primary dysmenorrhea in a sample of adult women. ⋯ Primary dysmenorrhea has a high prevalence in young adults, adults, and middle-aged women. Cesarean section and being physically inactive was associated with increased rates of dysmenorrhea among adult women.
