Hemogram index parameters in the evaluation of male breast cancer and inflammatory response: a case-control study.
Our aim was to investigate the hemogram index parameters and their clinical significance in the evaluation of the inflammatory response of patients with male breast cancer, who are rarely observed in the literature. ⋯ In male breast cancer patients, neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio and platelet/lymphocyte ratio values were significantly higher as the stage of cancer increased. These readily available simple tests can be used to evaluate the host's inflammatory response in male breast cancer.

Correlation analysis of Trial of Org 10172 in acute stroke treatment classification and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score in acute cerebral infarction with risk factors.
The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between the Trial of Org 10172 in acute stroke treatment classification and the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score of acute cerebral infarction as well as acute cerebral infarction's risk factors. ⋯ The nerve function defect is more serious after acute cerebral infarction with cardiogenic cerebral embolism, indicating a poor prognosis.

Self-medication practices with conventional and herbal drugs among ear, nose, and throat patients.
This study evaluates the self-practices with conventional and herbal drug use among ear, nose, and throat outpatients. ⋯ This study observed a considerable prevalence of self-based practices with conventional and herbal medications. Strict national regulations on conventional and herbal medication access and long-term actions should be implemented to discourage inappropriate drug use.

Causes of acute abdomen, preferred imaging methods, and prognoses in geriatric patients presenting to the emergency department with abdominal pain.
Abdominal pain is one of the most common reasons for admission to the emergency department in the geriatric population. The aim of this study was to investigate the diseases frequently detected in elderly patients diagnosed with acute abdomen in the emergency department, the imaging methods used in the diagnostic processes of these diseases, and the prognosis of the patients. ⋯ The most common causes of acute abdomen in the geriatric population were biliary diseases and pancreatitis, and ultrasonography imaging was the most common choice for the diagnosis of these diseases. In elderly patients with abdominal pain, rapid and accurate diagnosis and selection of the correct imaging method are extremely important.

Potentially inappropriate medication use in hospitalized elderly patients.
This study aimed to assess the prevalence of potentially inappropriate medication prescription in hospitalized elderly patients according to the 2019 American Geriatrics Society Beers Criteria. ⋯ The study sample showed significant percentages of potentially inappropriate medication prescriptions for the elderly admitted to the hospital.
