This study aims to evaluate the reliability of the radiographic union scale in tibial (RUST) fractures and modified RUST (mRUST) fractures in pediatric forearm fractures treated with elastic stable intramedullary nail (ESIN) and to investigate the effect of the experience of surgeon, thresholds for union, and delayed union decisions. ⋯ A moderate agreement for both RUST and mRUST scores was found. However, the agreement for mRUST was found to be slightly higher. Healing and union of forearm fractures treated with ESIN can be reliably assessed using RUST and mRUST.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
A randomized comparative evaluation of local infiltration analgesia, extended nerve blocks, and conventional analgesia in pain management after total knee arthroplasty.
The aim of this study was to analyze the postoperative effects of extended nerve blocks and local infiltration analgesia (LIA) on postoperative pain control, muscle weakness, and blood loss after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). ⋯ This study demonstrates that LIA technique offers a fast and safe treatment option for pain relief after TKA. No clinically relevant muscle weakness was observed among groups according to field block applications. Significant advantages were also achieved in blood loss.

All-suture anchors versus metal suture anchors in the arthroscopic treatment of traumatic anterior shoulder instability: A comparison of mid-term outcomes.
This study aims to compare metal suture anchors and all-suture anchors clinically and radiologically in arthroscopic Bankart repair. ⋯ Satisfactory outcomes were obtained with the use of all-suture anchors in arthroscopic Bankart repair for traumatic anterior shoulder instability. All-suture anchors and metal suture anchors, have similar outcomes in the mid-term and all-suture anchors are a reliable and effective option for arthroscopic Bankart repair.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of the novel coronavirus-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on the operational trends in the orthopedic surgery department of a tertiary referral center. ⋯ Our experience in a tertiary referral center illustrated a shift toward performing emergent and urgent surgeries, when the severity of the outbreak increased. Prioritizing surgical urgencies during the outbreak changed the orthopedic surgery practice with an emphasis on trauma and oncology surgeries. Hip fractures were the most common cause of trauma surgery, and simple falls composed the largest group of trauma mechanisms.

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of silver ion doped calcium phosphate-based ceramic nano powder-coated titanium pins in preventing bacterial colonization. ⋯ Silver ion doped nano size calcium phosphate-based powder-coated titanium pins reduced the bacterial colonization significantly. Using silver ion doped materials in the body can be a good option to prevent from implant related infections.
