No formal systematic review or meta-analysis was performed up to now to summarize the risk factors of dislocation after revision total hip arthroplasty(THA). ⋯ Related prophylaxis strategies should be implemented in patients involved with above-mentioned risk factors to prevent dislocation after revision THA.

Systematic review and meta-analysis on intra-operative neuro-monitoring in high-risk thyroidectomy.
Use of intra-operative neuro-monitoring (IONM) during high-risk thyroidectomy has been suggested to decrease the rate of recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) palsy. However, current evidences were mixed and there was no large-scale study concluding its benefit. We evaluated the role of IONM in reducing RLN palsy during high-risk thyroidectomy and identified which high-risk subgroup would be most benefited. ⋯ Selective use of IONM during high-risk thyroidectomy decreased the rate of overall RLN palsy. IONM should be applied during re-operative thyroidectomy and thyroidectomy for malignancy.

Topical use of platelet-rich plasma can improve the clinical outcomes after total knee arthroplasty: A systematic review and meta-analysis of 1316 patients.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is extracted by centrifuging whole blood and characterized with a high concentration of platelets. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and non-RCTs is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) versus placebo after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). ⋯ Current meta-analysis indicates that PRP is associated with increasing the ROM after TKA in short term and long term. What's more, PRP can also decrease the WOMAC score and pain intensity without increasing the occurrence of infection.

Total thyroidectomy versus thyroid lobectomy for papillary thyroid cancer: Comparative analysis after propensity score matching: A multicenter study.
In patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), the role of total thyroidectomy (TT) versus that of thyroid lobectomy (TL) has been controversial. ⋯ Equivalent prognoses were observed for patients with 1- to 5-cm stage cN0 and cM0 PTC tumors treated by TL or TT after propensity score matching. Adverse events occurred less frequently in patients who underwent TL than TT.

Prophylactic oral calcium supplementation therapy to prevent early post thyroidectomy hypocalcemia and evaluation of postoperative parathyroid hormone levels to detect hypocalcemia: A prospective randomized study.
Postoperative hypocalcemia is the most common complication after total thyroidectomy. Postoperative parathyroid hormone (PTH) measurement is one of the methods to detect or prevent postoperative hypocalcemia. Prophylactic oral calcium supplementation is another method to prevent early postoperative hypocalcemia. The aim of this study is to detect the accurate timing of PTH and evaluate efficacy of routine oral calcium supplementation for postoperative hypocalcemia. ⋯ Serum PTH levels at postoperative 12 and 24 h can predict early post-thyroidectomy hypocalcemia. Prophylactic oral calcium supplementation therapy can prevent early post-thyroidectomy hypocalcemia with advantages of being cost effective and safe.
