Capitate and hamate fractures are infrequent injuries and are uncommon in isolation. A capitate fracture is usually associated with a scaphoid fracture. The primary mechanism of injury is a fall with the wrist in hyperextension. ⋯ Following a clinical suspicion based on history and physical examination, radiographic and computed tomography (CT) studies were crucial for elucidating the case and proposed treatment, which involved ensuring absolute stability and performing an open reduction, using interfragmentary compression, with the Herbert bone screw implanted in each bone. After the surgical procedure, the patient wore a forearm plaster cast splint for four weeks. A satisfactory outcome was obtained in three months, with a complete range of motion and preserved force compared to the contralateral hand.

Comparative StudyEffectiveness of Traction in Young Patients Representing Different Stages of Degenerative Disc Disease.
Low back pain (LBP) currently ranks among the most frequent musculoskeletal pathologies, and the average age of those affected is constantly decreasing. One of the causes of LBP is lumbar disc herniation (LDH). If untreated, it causes disability and leads to socio-economic problems. Traction techniques are a popular method of treating this condition. The stage of LDH (protrusion, extrusion) in young people appears to determine patients' clinical status, necessitating diversification of treatment methods with regard to the type of damage. ⋯ 1. The type of intervertebral disc damage determines the functional status of young people with degenerative disc disease. 2. The study demonstrated and confirmed a positive effect of traction on the functional status of subjects with lumbar disc herniation. 3. Traction techniques are safe and can be successfully used in the treatment of LDH.

Randomized Controlled TrialA Triple Application of Kinesio Taping Supports Rehabilitation Program for Rotator Cuff Tendinopathy: a Randomized Controlled Trial.
Rotator cuff tendinopathy (RoCT) is a common pathology among adults. Kinesio-taping (KT) represents a possible rehabilitative treatment. The aim of the present study is to investigate the efficacy of a combination of three different applications of KT combined with a standardized protocol of rehabilitative exercises in reducing pain and in functional recovery in patients affected by RoCT. ⋯ 1. KT application combined with conventional rehabilitative treatment can facilitate immediate pain reduction during rehabilitative treatment. 2. KT application combined with conventional rehabilitative treatment can increase function recovery. 3. KT application combined with conventional rehabilitative treatment can increase strength recovery. 4. Our findings however are not strong enough to recommend the application of KT during rehabilitative treatment for RoCT. 5. These results are the basis for future prospective, randomized controlled trials of larger samples of patients.

Locking Plate Fixation with Multiple Telescoping Sliding Screws for Femoral Neck Fractures.
Non-displaced femoral neck fractures are mostly treated with internal fixation, while in dis-placed fractures this surgical option is under debate and the benefits are still not clear. The purpose of this study was to identify the factors that affect the treatment of non-displaced and displaced hip fractures using a head-preserving plate. ⋯ 1. The use of a locking plate system with telescoping sliding screws was associated with lower rates of postoperative complications in undisplaced, but also in displaced femoral neck fractures in patients younger 60 years. 2. Patients over 60 years with displaced fractures were more likely to have healing problems and implant failure.

Comparative StudyOutcomes after Scaphoid Excision and Midcarpal Arthrodesis for SNAC and SLAC Wrist Arthritis.
Persistent, long-lasting pseudoarthrosis of the scaphoid or scapholunate dissociation results in arthrosis of the radio-scaphoid joint termed scaphoid non-union advanced collapse (SNAC) or scapholunate advanced collapse (SLAC), which causes pain, reduction in wrist movements and weakness of the hand grip. Scaphoid resection followed by "four-corner" midcarpal arthrodesis is a recognized treatment for this condition. ⋯ 1. The results of the treatment presented in this stu-dy, after a relatively long follow-up period, show a beneficial effect of the surgery on pain intensity and improvement of hand dexterity, at the cost of a mild reduction in wrist movements. 2. It seems that this technique offers good, predicta-ble outcomes and may be recommended for Wa-t-son 2° and 3° SNAC or SLAC wrist arthrosis.
