Transoral laser microsurgery versus radiation therapy in the management of T1 and T2 laryngeal glottic carcinoma: which modality is cost-effective within the UK?
To identify the most cost-effective treatment strategy in patients with early stage (T1 and T2) cancers of the laryngeal glottis. ⋯ Transoral laser microsurgery is a cost-effective strategy to adopt in the management of T1a laryngeal cancers. Uncertainty remains over the optimal strategy to adopt in T1b-T2 laryngeal cancers.

Observational Study
Validation of the Airway-Dyspnoea-Voice-Swallow (ADVS) scale and Patient-Reported Outcome Measure (PROM) as disease-specific instruments in paediatric laryngotracheal stenosis.
To validate the Airway-Dyspnoea-Voice-Swallow (ADVS) instrument as a disease-specific Patient-Reported Outcome Measure in paediatric laryngotracheal stenosis. ⋯ These series of observations validate the ADVS instrument as a disease-specific outcome measure for paediatric laryngotracheal stenosis. Dyspnoea and swallowing dysfunction appear to have the greatest impact on quality of life. More widespread adoption of the ADVS instrument could help create a shared language for outcomes communication and benchmarking for children with this complex condition.

To determine the impact of recurrent sore throats and tonsillitis in adults and stakeholder views of treatment pathways. ⋯ The findings from this study suggest that there is a disconnect between the attitudes of the stakeholders and the reality of recurrent sore throat, tonsillectomy procedures and service provision. More evidence for the role of tonsillectomy is needed from randomised controlled trials to determine whether it should continue to be ranked as a procedure of limited clinical effectiveness.
