Randomized Controlled Trial
Safety and efficacy of pre-incisional peritonsillar lornoxicam in paediatric post-tonsillectomy pain: a prospective double-blind, placebo-controlled, split-body clinical study.
To evaluate the risk of peri-operative bleeding and re-intervention with peritonsillar lornoxicam infiltration in paediatric tonsillectomy. ⋯ The lack of significant complications suggests that pre-incisional peritonsillar lornoxicam followed by intravenous paracetamol rescue analgesia may be safe for tonsillectomy in children. To avoid conflict with intra-operative bleeding, postoperative infiltration of lornoxicam is recommended.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
A prospective randomised single-blinded clinical trial comparing the efficacy and tolerability of the nasal douching products Sterimar™ and Sinus Rinse™ following functional endoscopic sinus surgery.
To compare the efficacy and tolerability of two commonly used nasal douching products, low-volume high-pressure Sterimar™ and high-volume low-pressure Sinus Rinse™ following functional endoscopic sinus surgery. ⋯ High-volume low-pressure saline irrigation is recommended as an efficacious, easy to use and well-tolerated adjunct to endoscopic sinonasal toilet in the early postoperative period following functional endoscopic sinus surgery.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
A double-blind randomised controlled trial assessing the efficacy of topical lidocaine in extended flexible endoscopic nasal examinations.
To test the hypothesis that using lidocaine nasal spray will result in improved pain and comfort outcomes during an extended flexible endoscopic nasal examination. ⋯ After a rinse with oral mouthwash, the use of lidocaine results in a significant reduction in the discomfort associated with an extended bilateral flexible endoscopic nasal examination. Patients undergoing such an examination would benefit from the application of lidocaine after masking the negative flavour using oral mouthwash.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Post-operative pain following coblation or monopolar electrocautery tonsillectomy in children: a prospective, single-blinded, randomised comparison.
To compare post-operative pain following tonsillectomy by either coblation or monopolar electrocautery in children. ⋯ Coblation tonsillectomy may reduce post-operative pain and the time until resumption of a regular diet compared to electrocautery tonsillectomy.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Randomised cross-over study of oral appliances for snoring.
To compare a mandibular advancement splint to a control bite raising appliance in the treatment of snoring with or without mild obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome. ⋯ In this cohort of patients diagnosed with snoring +/- mild OSA: 1 both the mandibular advancement splint and bite raising appliance designs of splint appeared to reduce the symptoms of snoring; 2 no difference in the magnitude of this effect was detected in favour of one design of splint.
