ReviewSystematic review of minimally invasive ablation treatment for locally advanced pancreatic cancer.
Unresectable locally advanced pancreatic cancer with or without metastatic disease is associated with a very poor prognosis. Ablation techniques are based on direct application of chemical, thermal, or electrical energy to a tumor, which leads to cellular necrosis. ⋯ Inoperable cases of pancreatic cancer have been treated by various ablation techniques in the last few years with promising results. The purpose of this review is to present the current status of local ablative therapies in the treatment of pancreatic advanced tumor.

ReviewVascular and interventional radiology radiofrequency ablation of benign thyroid nodules and recurrent thyroid cancers: literature review.
Thermal radiofrequency ablation is a relatively new, minimally invasive modality employed as an alternative to surgery in patients with benign thyroid nodules and recurrent thyroid cancers. Different recommendations are necessary for the optimal use of radiofrequency ablation for thyroid nodules. These recommendations are based on a comprehensive analysis of the current literature, the results of multicenter studies, and expert consensus.

Ionising radiation awareness among resident doctors, interns, and radiographers in a university hospital emergency department.
In emergency medicine practice, radiological investigations relying on ionising radiation are increasingly used to diagnose a wide range of diseases and injuries. The aim of this study was to investigate the knowledge of radiation exposure doses and risks among interns, resident doctors, and radiographers. ⋯ Our study showed that the resident doctors', interns', and radiographers' knowledge of radiation exposure from radiological investigations and the associated risks was poor. This result could imply that we are not aware of the radiation risks, and we are inattentive in informing our patients about the radiation exposure related to the different imaging modalities.

ReviewUltrasound-guided interventional procedures around the shoulder.
The aim of this review is to illustrate the spectrum of ultrasound-guided procedures around the shoulder. The shoulder is affected by a wide range of both, traumatic and degenerative diseases. Ultrasound guidance is a low-cost and safe tool to perform minimally invasive interventional procedures around the shoulder. ⋯ In adhesive capsulitis, different therapeutic ultrasound-guided techniques such as corticosteroid injection, capsular distension (sodium chlorate solution; sodium chlorate and corticosteroids; air) and viscosupplementation are evaluated. Acromion-clavear injection of steroid and lidocaine solution under ultrasound guidance is easy to perform and is indicated in conservative treatment of painful osteoarthrosis. The treatment of rotator cuff tendinosis and partial tears with ultrasound-guided injection of concentrated autologous platelets is also described.

This paper presents a technique of ultrasound-guided localisation and block of the musculocutaneous nerve through the anterior wall of the axilla. ⋯ The anterior axillary ultrasound view provides for complete nerve block and imaging of the entire course of the musculocutaneous nerve and its relations with adjacent structures with excellent quality.
