Clear cell "sugar" tumor of the lung is a rare benign tumor arising from perivascular epithelioid cells (PECs). They belong to a group of mesenchymal neoplasms called PEComas. ⋯ We report the case of a 66-year-old man in whom a solitary pulmonary nodule was discovered during oncological staging for an adenocarcinoma of the prostate who underwent an anatomical pulmonary segmentectomy. The final pathology result was a perivascular epithelioid cell tumor (pulmonary PEComa or clear "sugar" cell tumor).

Diffuse idiopathic hyperplasia of neuroendocrine cells is an extremely rare condition. It is a widespread proliferation of neuroendocrine cells, without primary process justifying it. Usually symptomatic in most cases, asymptomatic forms are also described. ⋯ The third patient is asymptomatic and in control. The diffuse neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia represents a diagnostic challenge because of the rarity of this condition. Lung biopsy in patients with multiple, bilateral pulmonary nodules and clinical history of cough and progressive dyspnea should be considered to confirm this entity.

Observational Study
[Prevalence of diabetic retinopathy in a rural area of Argentina].
Diabetic retinopathy is one of the major problems public health is facing in the 21st century. The worldwide prevalence is increasing; however, little is known about the frequency of this disease in Argentina. Tele-ophthalmology programs have helped to face and to better understand this disease, mainly in rural areas. ⋯ In addition, it was observed that 5.0% had glaucoma, 63.4% hypertension and 42.6% dyslipidemia. These findings are similar to those reported in other countries around the world. These data are fundamental to understand the details of the epidemiological situation in this region and to be able to develop health strategies to deal with this disease.

We repor a case of acute ST elevation myocardial infarction in a 22-year-old patient with SLE, hypertension and nephropathy who underwent successful coronary angioplasty to a middle third of the left anterior descending artery. She evolved without signs of heart failure however, due to the delay in diagnosis, she presented severe deterioration of ventricular function. ST segment elevation myocardial infarction is a very rare event in young premenopausal women, but compared to the general population, patients with lupus have at least a 50% higher risk of suffering it regardless their age. ⋯ In the context of lupus, conditions such as the presence of nephritis have been described as favoring the appearance of myocardial infarction, constituting subgroups of higher risk. The increased risk of AMI in patients with SLE must be taken into account and must be suspected as a differential diagnosis of precordial pain in young women, even those under 25 years of age, a population categorized as having low CV risk according to traditional scores. This would avoid delays in diagnosis and treatment with adverse consequences such as extensive myocardial necrosis and its impact on ventricular systolic function, as occurred in this patient.

Non-caloric sweeteners (NCS) are used to replace added sugars in foods and beverages. For this replacement to be a health benefit, the intake of each NCS should not exceed its Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI). The main objective of this study is to determine the consumption of aspartame, acesulfame-K, sucralose, and saccharin in the argentine population aged 15 to 65 years and to evaluate this consumption in relation to the ADI. Other objectives are to stratify the consumption based on different sociodemographic variables and to determine the main sources of NCS consumed by the argentine population. ⋯ In Argentina there is a good safety margin for the reformulation of sugary products aimed at reducing the excess calories and added sugars consumed by the population.
