The introduction of foreign bodies in the urethra are uncommon. Given its rarity, the approach to this condition is not standardized but it is highlighted that minimally invasive procedures should be prioritized depending on its feasibility. In the present study, we report a case of a 60-year-old male patient with bipolar disorder and a foreign body impacted in the bulbar urethra with open surgical resolution after a failed endoscopic treatment. We perform an analysis into the diagnostic and therapeutic methods used, with postoperative results.

Unilateral primary aldosteronism (PA) is the most common surgically correctable cause of hypertension. Determination of success after laparoscopic adrenalectomy (LA) is limited by the lack of standardized criteria. We sought to evaluate the surgical recurrence and functional outcomes of LA in patients with Conn's syndrome applying the primary aldosteronism surgical outcome (PASO) Criteria. ⋯ According to the PASO criteria, complete, partial, and no success were observed in 8/15, 6/15, and 1/15, respectively. The surgical treatment of the disease is supported by the literature, and we were able to reproduce the results of other series. The use of standardized and reproducible criteria to assess its functional results would be essential for a more complete and integrated evaluation of adrenal surgery.

[COVID-19 pandemic: outcomes and mortality in inpatients related to vaccination].
Different COVID-19 vaccines were developed in a short time after the beginning of pandemics, reducing mortality, especially in high risk population. This was demonstrated in several studies, mostly retrospective or based in mathematical models. The objective was to compare mortality in inpatients with COVID-19 related to vaccination. ⋯ This study constitutes a starting point for developing other investigations and raising awareness of medical community and people about the beneficial effects of vaccination.

The COVID-19 pandemic elicited important changes in community habits and behaviors, including a distancing of people from the healthcare system. The objective of this work was to understand the causes that gave rise to changes in behavior from an individual perspective in the Argentine Republic. We performed a cross-sectional, web-based survey using an online questionnaire. ⋯ The most common form of consultation was through unconventional means (e-mail, telephone, or WhatsApp). One of 5 respondents had difficulties to obtain a medication prescription and 5% stopped the use of at least one medication. Regarding healthy habits, almost 2/3 of those surveyed stated that they became more sedentary; 11% of hypertensive patients increased their consumption of salt and 15% saw their blood pressure values increase, while 16% of dyslipidemic patients showed increased consumption of fats.

Factitious thyrotoxicosis is characterized by the intentional or accidental intake of excess thyroid hormones or their derivatives. We describe 6 cases of patients who developed thyrotoxicosis and adverse effects by weight-reducing herbal medicines. ⋯ To make the differential diagnosis between intake of thyroxine (T4) or triiodothyronine (T3) or its derivatives, we must request the measurement of T4 and T3. In case of ingestion of T4, T4 and T3 will be elevated, but in case of ingestion of triodothyronine or its derivatives, T4 will be decreased with elevated T3.
