The COVID-19 pandemic generated an overload of the health system and mental, emotional, and physical exhaustion of workers. Previous studies have reported elevated levels of burnout syndrome in healthcare workers. The objective of the study was to estimate the prevalence and associated factors of burnout syndrome in healthcare workers. ⋯ In the multivariate analysis, the variables that were independently associated with the burnout syndrome were: being a physician (OR = 8.9; 95% CI: 1.1-71; p: 0.041) and being a respiratory kinesiologist (OR = 137.5; 95% CI: 2-262; p 0.001). The prevalence of burnout syndrome in healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic was high. Mainly in respiratory kinesiologists and physicians.

Thoracic endometriosis syndrome (TES) is a rare disorder characterized by the presence of ectopic endometrial tissue in the chest cavity. The typical clinical manifestation is a spontaneous pneumothorax, which usually presents with chest pain, dyspnea, and/or cough. The diagnosis requires a high level of clinical suspicion and a complete gynecological history. ⋯ A VATS was performed where nodules in the parietal pleura and diaphragmatic orifices were identified. In the postoperative period, she continued with hormonal treatment. At 6 months of follow-up, she reported improvement in pain and did not present new episodes of pneumothorax.

The level of comprehension on the information provided in the process of the informed consent can provide a free and voluntary decision. The comprehension and satisfaction of the participants affect their adherence to clinical trials. The objective of the study was to analyze the level of satisfaction of the subjects with the informed consent process as well as with their participation in clinical trials. ⋯ In the surveys, 97% expressed their willingness to participate in future studies, and 98% would recommend participating in clinical trials to others. The satisfaction score with participation in the study was associated, independently of age and socioeconomic level, with the desire to participate in a clinical trial again (OR 13.6: 95% CI: 4.7-39.1, p < 0.001) and with the recommendation to participate given to others (OR 16.7: 95% CI: 4.4-63.4, p < 0.001). In this sample from Argentina, there was a high degree of satisfaction both with the process of obtaining informed consent and with participation in clinical trials, regardless of age and socioeconomic status.

Uncertainty is present in every medical activity and its inadequate management may have negative consequences. The Physicians' Reactions to Uncertainty (PRU) scale is used to quantify tolerance to uncertainty in medical doctors. Our objective was to carry out the translation into Spanish, cultural adaptation and validation of the PRU scale. ⋯ The a-Cronbach average value was 0.78. These findings indicate that younger physicians and surgical specialists have greater reluctance to disclose uncertainty and mistakes. Having this information and a validated tool can be helpful to study uncertainty in medical doctors in Latin America and drive strategies to appropriately deal with it.
