Clinical characteristics and risk factors for severity of COVID-19 outside Wuhan: a double-center retrospective cohort study of 213 cases in Hunan, China.
To investigate clinical characteristics and identify risk factors for severity of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pneumonia outside of Wuhan, China. ⋯ The severity of COVID-19 outside Wuhan, China was milder than that within Wuhan. The clinical infective period was long, and the longest virus shedding time was 35 days. The most important risk factors were dyspnea, COPD, D-dimer, ALT, LDH and albumin.The reviews of this paper are available via the supplemental material section.

Meta AnalysisC-reactive protein, procalcitonin, D-dimer, and ferritin in severe coronavirus disease-2019: a meta-analysis.
Patients critically ill with coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) feature hyperinflammation, and the associated biomarkers may be beneficial for risk stratification. We aimed to investigate the association between several biomarkers, including serum C-reactive protein (CRP), procalcitonin (PCT), D-dimer, and serum ferritin, and COVID-19 severity. ⋯ This meta-analysis showed that an elevated serum CRP, PCT, D-dimer, and ferritin were associated with a poor outcome in COVID-19. Randomized Controlled TrialHigh-flow nasal oxygen reduces endotracheal intubation: a randomized clinical trial.
The benefits of high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) as primary intervention in patients with acute hypoxemic respiratory failure (AHRF) are still a matter in debate. ReviewContemporary best practice in the management of pulmonary embolism during pregnancy.
Approximately 1-2 per 1000 pregnancies are complicated by venous thromboembolism (VTE). VTE includes deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) and the diagnostic management of pregnancy-related VTE is challenging. Current guidelines vary greatly in their approach to diagnosing PE in pregnancy as they base their recommendations on scarce and weak evidence. ⋯ Women with a history of VTE are at risk of recurrence during pregnancy and in the postpartum period. Therefore, in most women with a history of VTE, thromboprophylaxis in subsequent pregnancies is indicated. The reviews of this paper are available via the supplemental material section.

Multicenter StudyDysfunction of adaptive immunity is related to severity of COVID-19: a retrospective study.
In December of 2019, coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) was reported in Wuhan, China, and has now rapidly swept around the world. Much research has been carried out since the outbreak, but few studies have focused on the dysfunction of the adaptive immunity. ⋯ COVID-19 might target adaptive immunity and cause a decrease in lymphocytes, especially T cells and subsets. Physicians should pay close attention to the adaptive immunity of patients upon admission. Monitoring NLR, T lymphocytes, and subsets would help physicians with the proper diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19.The reviews of this paper are available via the supplemental material section.
