Randomized Controlled TrialMetformin compared with glyburide for the management of gestational diabetes.
To assess blood glucose control and neonatal outcomes when women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) were treated with metformin or glyburide. ⋯ The treatment of GDM with metformin or glyburide was found to be equivalent for both women and newborns.

ReviewPrevention of nausea and vomiting during termination of pregnancy.
Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is common in women undergoing dilatation and curettage under general anesthesia for pregnancy termination, and many studies suggest treating these women prophylactically for PONV. ⋯ All antiemetics used in the last 20 years to prevent PONV are effective (some more than others) in women undergoing dilatation and curettage for pregnancy termination. However, there is a need for benefit and risk analyses of the different treatments.

To report on the treatment and outcome of pregnancy in 29 women with chronic kidney disease (CKD), 24 of whom had moderate or severe renal dysfunction. ⋯ The use of dialysis in pregnancy among women with moderate or severe renal dysfunction proved to be useful, but many patients became dependent on dialysis. It is not known whether this was due to the interaction between pregnancy and advanced CKD.

Effect of the interval between onset of sustained fetal bradycardia and cesarean delivery on long-term neonatal neurologic prognosis.
To examine the effect of the interval between onset of sustained fetal bradycardia and cesarean delivery on long-term neonatal neurologic prognosis. ⋯ In the event of sustained intrapartum fetal bradycardia, delivery by emergency cesarean within 25 minutes improved long-term neonatal neurologic outcome.
