Epidemiologic profile, survival, and maternal prognosis factors among women at an obstetric intensive care unit.
To identify the epidemiologic profile, maternal survival, and prognosis factors that might affect survival rates in the obstetric intensive care unit (ICU). ⋯ The main cause of admission was a decisive factor for maternal survival in the obstetric ICU. Direct obstetric complications had a better prognosis.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyA comparison of prophylactic intramuscular ergometrine and oxytocin for women in the third stage of labor.
To compare the efficacy and adverse effects of ergometrine and oxytocin given intramuscularly for the prevention of postpartum hemorrhage during the third stage of labor. ⋯ Intramuscular ergometrine is superior to intramuscular oxytocin in averting postpartum hemorrhage during the third stage of labor. There are no significant risks of adverse effects except for diastolic hypertension.
