Randomized Controlled TrialNeurocognitive therapeutic exercise improves pain and function in patients with shoulder impingement syndrome: a single-blind randomized controlled clinical trial.
Traditional rehabilitation improves pain and function in patients with shoulder impingement syndrome. Neurocognitive rehabilitation has shown to be highly effective after surgical reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament. However, its effects in patients with shoulder impingement syndrome have not yet been established. ⋯ skills and function of the shoulder can greatly benefit from neurocognitive rehabilitation.

Content validation of the international classification of functioning, disability and health core set for stroke from gender perspective using a qualitative approach.
The extended ICF Core Set for stroke is an application of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) of the World Health Organisation (WHO) with the purpose to represent the typical spectrum of functioning of persons with stroke. ⋯ Further research is needed on ICF categories not yet included in the extended ICF Core Set for stroke.

Comparative Study Observational StudyInspiratory muscular weakness is most evident in chronic stroke survivors with lower walking speeds.
Respiratory muscular weakness and associated changes in thoracoabdominal motion have been poorly studied in stroke subjects, since the individuals' functional levels were not previously considered in the investigations. ⋯ Evaluations and interventions involving respiratory muscular training could be included in stroke rehabilitation, especially for individuals with lower functional levels.

Stroke rehabilitation: availability of a family member as caregiver and discharge destination.
In today's health care environment where resources are scarce discharge planning is an important component of resource allocation. Knowledge of the factors that influence discharge disposition is fundamental to such planning. Further, return to home is an important outcome metric related to the effectiveness of a stroke rehabilitation program. ⋯ If current discharge planning relies on the availability of a caregiver at home after discharge from in-patient stroke rehabilitation then it may be worthwhile to include these caregivers in the inpatient rehabilitation process, to prepare them for their loved one's return home. Additionally, once the patient is discharged home more resources should be made available to support caregivers in the community. This may include more home healthcare personnel training and availability along with respite care.
