Meta AnalysisEffect of extracorporeal shockwave therapy on muscle spasticity in patients with cerebral palsy: meta-analysis and systematic review.
Recently, clinical trials have been performed to evaluate the efficacy of extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) in patients with cerebral palsy (CP). However, various studies adopted different clinical scales, making it insufficient to draw a definite conclusion about the efficacy of ESWT in reducing spasticity after cerebral palsy. The purpose of this meta-analysis was to assess the effects of ESWT on reducing spasticity after applying ESWT in patients with CP. ⋯ No serious side effects were observed in any patient after ESWT. ESWT may be a valid alternative to existing treatment options targeting spasticity diminishment and ROM improvement in CP patients to maintain healthy lifestyles and normalize spastic gait pattern. Further standardization of treatment protocols including treatment intervals and intensities needs to be established and long-term follow-up studies are needed to verify our results.

Multicenter StudyOverground wearable powered exoskeleton for gait training in subacute stroke subjects: clinical and gait assessments.
Wearable powered exoskeletons provide intensive overground gait training with patient's active participation: these features promote a successful active motor relearning of ambulation in stroke survivors. ⋯ Introduce innovative rehabilitation strategies based on customized OEAGT.

Randomized Controlled TrialEndocrine response after cervical manipulation and mobilization in people with chronic mechanical neck pain: a randomized controlled trial.
Most of the research on the effects of spinal manipulation on endocrine function has been done on healthy subjects and has yielded contradictory results. The potential role of cervical manual therapy intervention in order to induce changes in the endocrine system has not yet been investigated. ⋯ The increase in cortisol levels was similar with cervical manipulation and mobilization so induced stress levels can be similar in both interventions.

Responsiveness and minimal clinically important difference of Modified Ashworth Scale in patients with stroke.
Spasticity is a major problem in patients with stroke and influences their activities of daily living, participation, and quality of life. The Modified Ashworth Scale is widely used to assess spasticity. However, the responsiveness and minimal clinically important differences of the Modified Ashworth Scale in patients with stroke have not been explored. ⋯ The minimal clinically important differences of the Modified Ashworth Scale reported in this study will enable clinicians and researchers in determining whether changes in the muscle tone are true and clinically meaningful, and can be used as a reference for clinical decision-making.

Observational StudyCoping, stress and negative psychological outcomes in parents of children admitted to a pediatric neurorehabilitation care unit.
Parents' attitudes and psychological adjustment during their child's hospitalization in a pediatric neurorehabilitation care unit are key aspects for the child's adherence to care and the impact of the disease. ⋯ Identify these predictors might help professionals to develop screening procedures to identify parent at high risk for anxiety or depression, and to conduct early interventions to reduce uncertainty and maladaptive coping strategies that may influences rehabilitation process.
