Retention rates of adalimumab, etanercept and infliximab as first-line biotherapy agent for rheumatoid arthritis patients in daily practice - Auvergne experience.
To compare, in real-life conditions, the retention rates of anti-tumor necrosis factor (anti-TNF) treatment (etanercept [ETN], adalimumab [ADA] and infliximab [IFX]) initiated as first-line biotherapy for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and to evaluate, in case of failure, the switch to another anti-TNF or a non-anti-TNF biological. ⋯ In real life, there was no difference in retention among the three anti-TNF agents, and 25% of patients continued them at 15 years. After failure of an anti-TNF, the switch to a non-anti-TNF biotherapy showed better retention.

Familial Mediterranean fever patients homozygous for E148Q variant may have milder disease.
Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) results from MEFV gene mutations. E148Q is a variant of unknown significance in MEFV. We aimed to define characteristics of FMF patients homozygous for E148Q, check for other MEFV variants in a subgroup, and compare the characteristics with FMF patients carrying other mutations. ⋯ Patients homozygous for E148Q and negative for other pathogenic MEFV variants may display FMF phenotype and may experience moderate/severe disease activity, although the disease may be milder when compared to FMF patients with other mutations.

Which one is more effective for the clinical treatment of chronic pain in knee osteoarthritis: radiofrequency neurotomy of the genicular nerves or intra-articular injection?
To compare the efficacy of intra-articular injection and radiofrequency (RF) neurotomy of genicular nerves in patients with chronic knee osteoarthritis (OA) pain. ⋯ This study is the first controlled study in the literature which compares RF genicular nerve to intra-articular injections. This study demonstrated that genicular nerve RF neurotomy is a safe and efficient treatment modality and provides functional improvement along with an analgesia in patients with chronic knee OA.

A retrospective review of the persistence on bDMARDs prescribed for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis in the Australian population.
To describe the persistence of biologic disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (bDMARDs) in Australian rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients, and assess the influence of methotrexate and other conventional DMARD (cDMARD) concomitant medications, and treatment line on bDMARD persistence and glucocorticoids usage. ⋯ Treatment persistence was longer on tocilizumab followed by abatacept then SC-anti-TNF therapy and was influenced by co-therapy. Glucocorticoid dosage decreased with bDMARD use. This real-world data highlights that persistence on bDMARDs differs according to biologics mode of action and co-therapy.

Interstitial lung disease in non-sicca onset primary Sjögren's syndrome: a large-scale case-control study.
This study investigated the common initial clinical presentations of primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) with interstitial lung disease (ILD) and explored differences between sicca and non-sicca onset pSS-ILD patients. ⋯ Non-sicca is a common initial manifestation in pSS-ILD. Anti-SSA presence, elevated RF titer and hyperglobulinemia were less predominant, and pulmonary complications were more progressive and severe in non-sicca onset patients than sicca onset patients.
