Comparative StudyExtremity fractures associated with ATVs and dirt bikes: a 10-year national epidemiologic study.
Morbidity and mortality of all-terrain vehicles and dirt bikes have been studied, as well as the association of helmet use and head injury. ⋯ While upper extremity fractures were the most commonly observed in this database, three-wheeled ATVs and dirt bikes showed increased proportions of lower extremity fractures. Several organizations have previously advocated for better regulation of the sale and use of these specific vehicles due to increased risks. These findings help illustrate some of the specific risks associated with these commonly used vehicles.

ReviewWhat is the clinical evidence on regenerative medicine in intervertebral disc degeneration?
This review aims to explore and summarize the current clinical evidence about the use of regenerative medicine such as mesenchymal stem cells or platelet-rich plasma in intervertebral disc regeneration, in order to clarify the state of art of these novel approaches. ⋯ Regenerative medicine, such as the use of mesenchymal stem cells or platelet-rich plasma, in intradiscal disc degeneration has shown preclinical and clinical positive results. Randomized clinical trials studying the potential of MSCs intradiscal injection have not been conducted, and PRP effect has been studied only preliminarily. Additional more powered high-quality studies are needed to really appreciate the long-term safety and efficacy of regenerative medicine approaches in IDD.

Autologous osteochondral transplantation (mosaicplasty) in articular cartilage defects of the patellofemoral joint: retrospective analysis of 33 cases.
The purpose of this retrospective study was to evaluate the results of osteochondral autografting (mosaicplasty) in isolated articular cartilage defects of the patellofemoral joint. ⋯ Mosaicplasty is an effective technique for the treatment of articular cartilage defects of the patellofemoral joint knee which restores the joint function in a short period of follow-up. However, a meticulous surgical technique should be followed to restore the native articular surface and the congruity of the joint.
