Pedicle screw instrumentation plus augmentation vertebroplasty using calcium sulfate for thoracolumbar burst fractures without neurologic deficits.
To evaluate the efficacy of posterior instrumentation plus vertebroplasty and posterolateral fusion using calcium sulfate for thoracolumbar burst fractures without neurologic deficits. ⋯ Pedicle screw instrumentation plus augmentation vertebroplasty with calcium sulfate is an economic, efficient and reliable technique for treating unstable thoracolumbar fractures without neurologic deficits.

Outcomes and predictors of brace treatment for girls with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.
To evaluate the effectiveness and to identify the predictive factors of standardized brace treatment for girls with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). ⋯ Brace treatment can prevent curve progression in most girls with AIS. The outcomes of brace treatment in these girls are influenced by growth status, curve pattern and curve magnitude. Less mature patients, and those with larger curves and thoracic curves are at risk of scoliosis progression despite brace treatment.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison of paraspinal muscle injury in one-level lumbar posterior inter-body fusion: modified minimally invasive and traditional open approaches.
To determine differences in paraspinal muscle injury between a modified minimally invasive approach (MMIA) and a traditional operative approach (TOPA) for one-level instrumented posterior lumbar inter-body fusion (PLIF). ⋯ Compared with TOPA, MMIA can significantly lessen paraspinal muscle injury, and reduce the incidence of low back pain.
