Randomized Controlled TrialTopical Citrullus colocynthis (bitter apple) extract oil in painful diabetic neuropathy: A double-blind randomized placebo-controlled clinical trial.
The aim of the present study was to examine the safety and efficacy of a topical formulation of Citrullus colocynthis in patients with painful diabetic polyneuropathy (PDPN). ⋯ Application of a topical formulation of C. colocynthis fruit extract can decrease pain in patients with PDPN. It also may have some uncertain effects on nerve function and the physical domain of quality of life, which require further investigation in studies with larger sample sizes and of longer duration.

Does increased adherence to medications change health care financial burdens for adults with diabetes?
The aim of the present study was to investigate increased out-of-pocket drug costs and financial burdens of achieving adherence to oral antidiabetic medications and medications for prevalent comorbidities. ⋯ Efforts to reduce the costs faced by the uninsured and insured will make adherence more affordable and, therefore, more attainable for some adults with diabetes.

Determinants of incident prediabetes and type 2 diabetes in a 7-year cohort in a developing country: The Isfahan Cohort Study.
This study aimed to identify determinants of new onset type-2 diabetes (T2D) and prediabetes in a region with high rate of T2D but scarcity of evidence. ⋯ Current data endorses proposed statistical projections for the future trend of diabetes, and highlights the potential role of obesity specifically visceral type.
