Training Physical Therapists in Person-Centered Practice for People With Osteoarthritis: A Qualitative Case Study.
To explore physical therapists' experiences with, and the impacts of, a training program in person-centered practice to support exercise adherence in people with knee osteoarthritis. ⋯ Although physical therapists found training overwhelming initially as they realized the limitations of their current knowledge and clinical practice, they felt more confident and able to provide person-centered care to people with knee osteoarthritis by the end of training. Training in structured person-centered methodology that provides opportunity for skills practice with patients using a restructured consultation framework can change physical therapists' beliefs about their roles when managing patients with osteoarthritis and positively impact their clinical practice.

Association Between Metabolic Syndrome and Radiographic Hand Osteoarthritis: Data From a Community-Based Longitudinal Cohort Study.
To explore whether metabolic syndrome and its components are associated with hand osteoarthritis (OA) using longitudinal data from the Framingham Study. ⋯ We found no association between metabolic syndrome and hand OA. The role of hypertension in hand OA pathogenesis warrants further investigation.

Association Between Inflammatory Back Pain Characteristics and Magnetic Resonance Imaging Findings in the Spine and Sacroiliac Joints.
To investigate the association between magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings at the sacroiliac (SI) joints and vertebral endplates and pain characteristics assumed to be indicative of axial inflammation. ⋯ The identified associations between inflammatory MRI findings and pain characteristics indicate that axial inflammation to some degree induces a specific pain pattern. Thus, the results add to knowledge of axial inflammatory processes. However, all identified associations were weak, which compromises the use of IBP as a marker of axial inflammation.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyAssociation Between Pain Sensitization and Disease Activity in Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Cross-Sectional Study.
Pain sensitization may contribute to pain severity in rheumatoid arthritis (RA), impacting disease activity assessment. We examined whether pain processing mechanisms were associated with disease activity among RA patients with active disease. ⋯ High pain sensitization is associated with elevations in disease activity measures. Longitudinal studies are underway to elucidate the cause-effect relationships between pain sensitization and inflammatory disease activity in RA.

ReviewOutcome Reporting in Randomized Trials for Shoulder Disorders: Literature Review to Inform the Development of a Core Outcome Set.
To explore the outcome domains and measurement instruments reported across randomized trials of any interventions for various shoulder disorders. ⋯ The domains and measurement instruments reported were widely diverse. Our results provide a foundation for the development of a core outcome set for use in future trials across all shoulder disorders.
