Percutaneous anterior pelvic ring instrumentation is performed for retrograde screw fixation of ramus fractures, as well as for repair of pubic symphysis diastasis. The anatomic relationships of critical structures around the anterior pelvic ring, such as the spermatic cord and round ligament, have been described in only a few studies regarding the risk of iatrogenic injury during surgery. Our goal is to further describe these relationships, as well as provide radiographic information on safe corridors for percutaneous fixation. ⋯ We have identified defined safe corridors for instrumentation of the anterior pelvic ring that can assist the surgeon in percutaneous application of fixation for fracture care.

Evaluation of the effects of using 3D - patient specific models of displaced intra - articular calcaneal fractures in surgery.
It was aimed to compare conventional surgery and three-dimensional (3D) model-assisted surgery used in the treatment of calcaneal fractures. ⋯ Compared to the conventional group, the 3D model-assisted group provide successful intervention and reduce operation, instrumentation time and the fluoroscopy usage with less blood loss. Performing 3D-assisted surgery helps the quality of reduction during the surgery and stability of internal fixation to protect achieved reduction at follow-up more succesfully.

Lightning strikes have high morbidity and mortality rates. Thousands of fatalities are estimated to be caused by lightning worldwide, with the number of injuries being 10 times greater. However, evidence of lightning injuries is restricted to case reports and series and nonsystematic reviews. In this clinical review, we systematically select, score, and present evidence regarding lightning injuries. ⋯ It is vital that every lightning strike patient is treated according to standard trauma guidelines, with a specific focus on the possible sequelae of lighting injuries. All emergency healthcare professionals should acknowledge the risks and particularities of treating lighting strike injuries to optimize the care and outcomes of these patients. Our evidence-based treatment protocol should help prehospital and in-hospital emergency healthcare practitioners to prevent therapeutic mismanagement among these patients.

Utilisation of bioactive glass S53P4 inside an induced membrane for severe bone defect with high risk of infection: a multi-center preliminary experience.
The induced membrane technique has been developed to address bone defect of critical size from various origins. Despite its exceptional efficacy, several cases underwent a failure, which is regularly associated with a septic problem. The best way to conduct in this situation remains debated. ⋯ BAG-S53P4 may be considered as bone graft in an induced membrane technique, especially when there is a high probability of occurrence or recurrence of a bone infection.
