Kenya's estimated road traffic injury (RTI) death rate is 27.8/100,000 population, which is 1.5 times the global rate. Some RTI data are collected in Kenya; however, a systematic and integrated surveillance system does not exist. Therefore, we adopted and modified the World Health Organization's injury surveillance guidelines to pilot a hospital-based RTI surveillance system in Nairobi County, Kenya. ⋯ We demonstrated feasibility of a hospital-based RTI surveillance system in Nairobi County. Integrating information from crash scenes and hospitals can guide prevention.

Contact-sports are known to have higher risk of orofacial injuries due to the bodily contact with other players or equipment. Kabaddi is a traditional contact-sport of India that has gained an international recognition. There is a paucity of data regarding prevalence of traumatic dental and orofacial injuries among the Kabaddi players. Hence this study aimed to assess the prevalence, distribution and pattern of orofacial injuries among the Kabaddi players of Delhi and NCR region. ⋯ The prevalence of traumatic orofacial injuries in 10-18 years old Kabaddi players of Delhi-NCR region was found to be 44.02% while the prevalence of traumatic episodes was 49.11%. The prevalence of dental injuries was 5.1%. Majority of the players perceived that Kabaddi can lead to orofacial-injuries.

The purpose of this study was to: 1/ describe the characteristics of a cohort of patients over 75 years of age hospitalized in perioperative geriatric units (UPOG) for iterative fractures; 2/ investigate the risks of institutionalization related to the first fracture; and 3/ search for potential risk factors for iterative fracture. ⋯ PFF and female gender are risk factors for recurrent fracture, which is even more likely to occur early in case of home discharge or peri‑implant fracture.

Based on recent advances in tissue engineering and stem cell therapy in nervous system diseases treatments, this study aimed to investigate sciatic nerve regeneration using human endometrial stem cells (hEnSCs) encapsulated fibrin gel containing chitosan nanoparticle loaded by insulin (Ins-CPs). Stem cells and also Insulin (Ins), which is a strong signaling molecule in peripheral nerve regeneration, play an important role in neural tissue engineering. ⋯ Our results demonstrated that the prepared hydrogel scaffolds containing insulin nanoparticles and hEnSCs could be considered as a potential biomaterial aimed at regeneration of sciatic nerves.

The purpose of this study was to assess the practices related to obtaining postoperative pelvic CT scans following acetabular ORIF and revision surgery rates. ⋯ The routine use of postoperative CTs following open reduction internal fixation of acetabular fractures is a controversial topic. While we recognize the role for postoperative CT scans in select patients, our study questions the clinical utility of these scans in all patients and in conclusion do not recommend this protocol.
