Currently, assessment of acetabular fracture reduction is mainly performed by evaluating 2D slices of 3D CT scans. This subjective method can potentially be improved by using 3D models and objective analysis tools. In order to evaluate the potential value of digital 3D reconstructed models in the assessment of acetabular fracture reduction, 3D reconstructions of the fractured acetabulum were compared to the mirrored healthy contralateral side for both the pre-, and post-surgical setting. ⋯ The results of comparing 3D model of fractured acetabula with the contra-lateral healthy acetabula before, and after surgical repair indicate that this method can be a suitable tool to objectively assess acetabular fracture reduction. Further research is needed to confirm the usefulness to predict future arthrosis after surgical repair.

Treatment of acute Rookwood type III AC joint dislocation is still controversially discussed. ISAKOS suggested to subdivide type III AC joint injuries into type IIIA (stable) and type IIIB (unstable). The aim of this study was to compare clinical and radiographic outcomes between hook plate fixation and mini-open tightrope for the treatment of acute Rookwood type IIIB acromioclavicular joint dislocation. ⋯ The mini-open tightrope has better function and relieves pain in the early postoperative period compared to hook plate, and at the last follow up two groups have similar clinical and radiological outcomes. Mini-open TightRope fixation is a good option for the treatment of acute Rockwood types ⅢB AC joint dislocation.

This study was to test the hypothesis that intramedullary (IM) nailing fixation of midshaft clavicle fractures could result in better clinical outcomes and lower complications rates than plating fixation. ⋯ Level II.

To compare the bone transport over an intramedullary nail in combination with antibiotic-impregnated calcium sulphate versus bone transport alone with antibiotic-impregnated calcium sulphate for the treatment of tibial large bone defects. ⋯ Compared with the conventional Ilizarov technique combining with antibiotic-impregnated calcium sulphate for large tibial bone defects, bone transport over an intramedullary nail in combination with antibiotic-impregnated calcium sulphate had favourable external fixation time, external fixation index, weight bearing time and clinical functional outcomes which effectively suppressed the infection and allowed patients earlier removal of the external fixator and weight bearing for rehabilitation.

This study aimed to evaluate the clinical effect of the unlocking closed reduction technique (UCRT) for the displaced posterior pelvic ring fractures and to analyze the factors associated with failure of closed reduction and fixation. ⋯ Displaced posterior pelvic ring fractures treated with the UCRT are associated with excellent/ good radiological results. However, in patients with AO/OTA type C3 pelvic fracture and osteoporosis, the backup plan of open reduction should be routinely prepared. The patient should be brought to the operating room within three weeks to get a good reduction result. Two long screws or one long screw combined with two short screws are required to create a strong construct for AO/OTA type C1 pelvic fractures.
