A narrative review of the literature was conducted to examine the data on femoral head fractures, with a particular focus on their management, complications and clinical outcomes. A PRISMA strategy was used. Medline and Scopus library databases were queried using pre-defined MeSH terms and Boolean operators. ⋯ Conservative treatment recedes into the background. The Ganz flip osteotomy with surgical hip dislocation allows safe treatment of all types of fractures and should be considered the first choice, offering the lowest rate of complications and one of the best functional outcomes. Reconstruction of Pipkin Type III fractures should be reserved for very young patients due to high rate of major complications.

Finger nerve injuries have a significant impact on hand function and can result in reduced sensation, pain and impaired coordination. The socioeconomic implications of these injuries include decreased workplace productivity, reduced earning potential, and financial burdens associated with long-term medical treatment and rehabilitation. However, there is a lack of comprehensive literature regarding the incidence, mechanisms, and associated injuries of finger nerve lesions. ⋯ Finger nerve injuries are the most prevalent type of nerve injury, often resulting from small lacerations. These injuries have substantial societal costs and can lead to prolonged sick leave. Understanding the epidemiology and etiology of finger nerve injuries is crucial for implementing effective preventive measures. Accompanying tendon injuries and the anatomical location of the nerve lesions can impact sensory recovery and treatment outcomes. Proper management of peripheral finger nerve lesions is essential for optimizing functional outcomes and minimizing the impact on daily activities. Treatment options should be tailored to the severity and underlying cause of the nerve injury.

There is a lack of knowledge regarding the functional outcomes of patients after trauma. Remote areas in Norway has been associated with an increased risk of trauma-related mortality. However, it is unknown how this might influence trauma-related morbidity. The aim of this study was to assess the functional outcomes of patients in the Norwegian trauma population and the relationship between prehospital time and urban-remote disparities on functional outcome. ⋯ The majority of trauma patients admitted to a trauma hospital in Norway were discharged with minimal change in functional outcome. Patients with severe injuries (NISS > 15) and patients with injuries from falls experienced the greatest decline in function. Every minute increase in total prehospital time was linked to an increased likelihood of moderate disability in children and adults. Furthermore, incurring injuries in urban areas was found to be associated with higher odds of moderate disability in all age groups, while remote areas were found to be associated with higher odds of severe disability or vegetative state in elderly patients.

The validation of computed tomography derived radiodensity measurements of bone healing using histopathology.
The early identification of delayed bone healing or a non-union is vital for prompt treatment and superior patient outcomes. Current techniques rely heavily on operator skill for interpretation and hence their reliability and repeatability may be inconsistent. This study assessed the application of computed tomography (CT) derived densiometric measurements as a quantitative tool for the assessment of bone healing. ⋯ This study suggests that radiodensity measurements may be a useful diagnostic and management tool for the monitoring of indirect bone healing.

This study aimed to investigate the influence of size and fixation options of dorsoulnar fragments on the clinical outcomes of distal radius fractures (DRFs). ⋯ This study indicated that the strict reduction and fixation of a dorsoulnar fragment might be not essential when its articular involvement was less than 5 %. The volar locking plate (VLP) fixation was commonly effective in treating distal radius fractures accompanied by a dorsoulnar fragment involving over 15 % of the articular surface. Additionally, the use of an additional dorsal hollow compression screw or a dorsal low-profile mini plate can get good wrist function in the early-term follow-up when the dorsoulnar fragment involve 5-15 % of the articular surface.
