Randomized Controlled Trial
Women's experiences after early versus postponed oxytocin treatment of slow progress in first childbirth--a randomized controlled trial.
The aim was to compare the childbirth experiences of primiparous women with slow labour progress who had received early versus postponed oxytocin augmentation. ⋯ Early oxytocin augmentation for slow labour progress does not appear to be more beneficial than expectant management regarding women's perceptions of childbirth one month postpartum. Given the risks for the foetus associated with oxytocin treatment, prudent expectant management seems to be a safe and viable alternative.

The prevalence of gonorrhoea has increased worldwide in the last few years. Gonorrhoea is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in the world, and is a serious public health problem because of its associated morbidity and complications. The objective of this study was to estimate the frequency of gonorrhoea-related hospitalisations in Spain between the years 1997 and 2006. ⋯ The gonorrhoea-related hospitalisation rate in Spain remained constant during the period of the study. A better understanding of the epidemiology of gonorrhoea will allow for the creation of effective preventive measures that will lead to a reduction in the number of new infections.

Comparative Study
A comparative study of the experience of childbirth between women who preferred and had a caesarean section and women who preferred and had a vaginal birth.
The aim of this study was to compare experiences and feelings during pregnancy and childbirth in women who preferred caesarean section during pregnancy and were delivered by a planned caesarean section, and women who preferred to give birth vaginally and actually had a spontaneous vaginal birth. ⋯ This study shows that a fulfilled request on mode of birth does not guarantee a positive birth experience. Antenatal information of all aspects of a caesarean section is vital for women who consider caesarean section where no medical indication is present. More research is needed about the decision making process regarding caesarean section on maternal request. Childbirth related fear is a common reason to request a caesarean birth. More knowledge about how women reason about caesarean section is required, and treatment related to fear of birth needs to be developed.

Carrying death instead of life is beyond understanding and a huge psychological challenge for a pregnant mother. The aim of this study was to investigate the mothers' experiences of the time from the diagnosis of the death of their unborn baby until induction of labour. ⋯ The mother's experiences during the time after the information of their baby's death in utero until the induction of labour can be understood as a sense of being in no-man's-land, waiting without knowing for what or for how long.
