Respiratory Infections PostersSESSION TYPE: Poster PresentationsPRESENTED ON: Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 01:15 PM - 02:15 PMPURPOSE: The aim of this study was to compare the ability of the relative change during the first 24h of the new biomarkers Pro adenomedullin (PADM), Procalcitonin (PCT), C-reactive protein (CRP) and Lipopolysaccharide binding protein (LBP) to predict short term mortality (hospital mortality and mortality within 30 days). ⋯ The following authors have nothing to disclose: Ane Uranga, Pedro Pablo España, Alberto Capelastegui, Helena Azcuna, Sandra Dorado, Rosa Diez, Urko Aguirre, Maria del Carmen Mar, Edurne BereciartuaNo Product/Research Disclosure Information.

AsthmaSESSION TYPE: Slide PresentationsPRESENTED ON: Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 12:15 PM - 01:15 PMPURPOSE: The progression and development of asthma across the menopausal transition has not been thoroughly addressed, or clearly separated from the effects of age. The present study evaluates the effects of menopause on asthma severity, quality of life and healthcare utilization using a propensity score model. ⋯ Suzy Comhair: Grant monies (from sources other than industry): NIH (HL69170) The following authors have nothing to disclose: Joe Zein, Eugene Bleecker, William Busse, William Calhoun, Mario Castro, K. Cardiovascular Case Report Posters IISESSION TYPE: Case Report PosterPRESENTED ON: Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 01:15 PM - 02:15 PMINTRODUCTION: Atrioesophageal fistula (AEF) is an uncommon (0.15 per 1000 patients) complication following catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation. Though rare, prompt recognition is critical as unrecognized AEF formation is nearly always fatal and in the absence of death, catastrophic morbidity remains. ⋯ The following authors have nothing to disclose: Matthew Hammar, Gurleen Pasricha, Tiffany Dumont, Khalid MalikNo Product/Research Disclosure Information.

Cardiovascular Case Report Posters ISESSION TYPE: Case Report PosterPRESENTED ON: Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 01:15 PM - 02:15 PMINTRODUCTION: Cafergot is an ergotamine commonly prescribed to treat migraine headaches. As a serotonin agonist, it works at 5-HT2B receptors to cause selective vasoconstriction. In this case, a 62 YO WF who had been taking Cafergot for 15 years developed sudden onset transudative recurrent pleural effusions, all common causes ruled out by negative cytology, chemistry, culture, and cell count. She eventually developed severe multiple valvulopathy, pulmonary hypertension, and congestive hepatopathy. This case is unique in its presentation with recurrent pleural effusions of unknown etiology, with delayed diagnosis of ergotamine-induced valvulopathy given its slow progression. ⋯ The following authors have nothing to disclose: Rachel Felber, Hassan BencheqrounNo Product/Research Disclosure Information.

Critical Care Posters IISESSION TYPE: Poster PresentationsPRESENTED ON: Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 01:15 PM - 02:15 PMPURPOSE: Velocity vector imaging (VVI) has been used to evaluate right ventricular (RV) strain pattern in patients with pulmonary artery hypertension. However, there is limited information on the utility of VVI and modern echocardiographic measurements (e.g. RV/LV end diastolic ratio, Tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TASPE), etc.) in predicting ICU and long-term mortality in acute pulmonary embolism (PE). ⋯ The following authors have nothing to disclose: Danai Khemasuwan, Teerapat Yingchoncharoen, Pichapong Tunsupon, Kenya Kusunose, Allan Klein, Ajit Moghekar, Adriano TonelliNo Product/Research Disclosure Information.
