Respiratory InfectionsSESSION TYPE: Slide PresentationsPRESENTED ON: Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 04:15 PM - 05:15 PMPURPOSE: Aspergillus spp. is a ubiquitous fungus and responsible for a broad spectrum of lung disease depending on the patient's immune status and underlying lung disease. Due to a preexisting lung cavity from a variety of causes, such as pulmonary tuberculosis, excavated lung cancer, sarcoidosis, or pneumoconiosis, aspergillus can colonize and grow into the cavity to form a pulmonary aspergilloma (fungus ball). ⋯ The following authors have nothing to disclose: Doina Adina Todea, Paraschiva Postolache, Loredana Elena Rosca, Andreea Codruta ComanNo Product/Research Disclosure Information.

Physiology/PFTs/Rehabilitation PostersSESSION TYPE: Poster PresentationsPRESENTED ON: Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 01:15 PM - 02:15 PMPURPOSE: Spirometry is recommended for the diagnosis of asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in international guidelines and it may be useful for distinguishing asthma from COPD. Typically, the only data required for clinical decision making are the Forced Expiratory Volume in one second (FEV1) and the Forced Vital Capacity (FVC). Limitations of SIA promoted for adoption in primary care have been described [Can Fam Physician October 2011 57:1148-1152, 1153-1156.] This study examines how different SIA (one and two) may influence decision making among primary care physicians. ⋯ The following authors have nothing to disclose: Xiao Ou He, Anthony D'UrzoNo Product/Research Disclosure Information.

Cancer Case Report Posters IISESSION TYPE: Case Report PosterPRESENTED ON: Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 01:15 PM - 02:15 PMINTRODUCTION: Angiosarcomas are rare neoplasms, accounting for approximately 1% of all soft tissue sarcomas. ⋯ Histopathologic tissue diagnosis is essential and inevitable in malignancy patients and should be the main tool to guide the treatment.Reference #1: Primary pulmonary angiosarcoma, an exceptional neoplasm with a poor prognosis: reports of two cases and review of the literature. Interstitial Lung Disease CasesSESSION TYPE: Case ReportsPRESENTED ON: Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 09:00 AM - 10:00 AMINTRODUCTION: Hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) is characterized by diffuse inflammation of lung parenchyma. Symptoms include cough, fever, and shortness of breath. Chest imaging often shows micronodules and fibrosis that can be difficult to distinguish from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. We present a case of HP presenting with diffuse cystic lesions, mimicking lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM). ⋯ In patients with HP, treatment includes avoiding the allergen and in some cases, systemic corticosteroids. While long term prognosis is generally perceived as good, some patients develop severe respiratory insufficiency. We demonstrate the need to consider a HP diagnosis in patients with cystic lung disease.Reference #1: Ramazzini B. Diseases of workers. Wright WC, trans.
