Multicenter StudyPregnancy-associated spontaneous coronary artery dissection: insights from a case series of 13 patients.
We sought to present a series of 13 pregnancy-associated spontaneous coronary artery dissection (P-SCAD), their angiographic and multimodal imaging findings, acute phase treatment, and outcomes. ⋯ In these 13 cases of P-SCAD, clinical presentation commonly included acute myocardial infarction and cardiogenic shock. Multivessel dissections and involvement of the left coronary artery and left main coronary artery were highly prevalent. Clinicians must be aware of angiographic appearances of P-SCAD for prompt diagnosis and management in these high-risk patients.

Comparative StudyMorphological predictors for no reflow phenomenon after primary percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction caused by plaque rupture.
Myocardial no reflow after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is associated with poor outcome. Patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) caused by plaque rupture are at high risk for no reflow. However, specific morphologic characteristics associated with no reflow are unknown in this population. The aim of this study is to identify the morphological characteristics of culprit plaques associated with no reflow in patients with STEMI caused by plaque rupture using both optical coherence tomography (OCT) and intravascular ultrasound (IVUS). ⋯ No reflow occurred in nearly 40% of patients with STEMI caused by plaque rupture. Large lipid index and plaque burden were critical morphological discriminators between no reflow and normal flow.

Assessment of left ventricular (LV) systolic function plays a central role in cardiac imaging. Calculation of ejection fraction (EF) is the current method of choice; however, its limited intermodal comparability represents a major drawback. The assessment of myocardial mechanics by strain imaging may better reflect the complex myocardial contractility. We aimed to evaluate different methods for quantification of LV strain on global and regional levels with a focus on the new non-proprietary feature tracking (FT) algorithm. ⋯ clinicaltrials.gov. All-cause mortality by age and gender based on coronary artery calcium scores.
Although coronary artery calcium (CAC) has been established as a robust tool for predicting total mortality during intermediate follow-up, less is known about the long-term predictive value of CAC. ⋯ CAC is strongly associated with the long-term risk of mortality in young- and middle-aged men and women. In older patients, the long-term risk stratification of CAC is lower, due principally to increased mortality rate in patients with low calcium scores; however, even in the older patients, those with absent or low CAC are at a significantly lower risk of mortality compared with the general population.
