Incidence of Stroke or Systemic Embolism in Paroxysmal Versus Sustained Atrial Fibrillation: The Fushimi Atrial Fibrillation Registry.
There is controversy on the relationship of the type of atrial fibrillation (AF) to stroke. Although several studies show that patients with paroxysmal AF (PAF) have a stroke risk similar to those with persistent or permanent AF, recent studies suggest that PAF is associated with a lower rate of stroke. Limited data on stroke risk associated with PAF are evident in Asian populations. ⋯ URL: http://www.umin.ac.jp/ctr/index.htm. Unique identifier: UMIN000005834.

Endovascular Therapy Is Effective and Safe for Patients With Severe Ischemic Stroke: Pooled Analysis of Interventional Management of Stroke III and Multicenter Randomized Clinical Trial of Endovascular Therapy for Acute Ischemic Stroke in the Netherlands Data.
We assessed the effect of endovascular treatment in acute ischemic stroke patients with severe neurological deficit (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score, ≥20) after a prespecified analysis plan. ⋯ URL: http://www.clinicaltrials.gov. Time-Dependent Computed Tomographic Perfusion Thresholds for Patients With Acute Ischemic Stroke.
Among patients with acute ischemic stroke, we determine computed tomographic perfusion (CTP) thresholds associated with follow-up infarction at different stroke onset-to-CTP and CTP-to-reperfusion times. ⋯ Optimal CTP thresholds associated with follow-up infarction depend on time from imaging to reperfusion.
