Calorie restriction (CR) increases longevity in many species and reduces risk factors for chronic diseases. In humans, CR may improve health span, yet concerns remain about potential negative effects of CR. ⋯ In nonobese adults, CR had some positive effects and no negative effects on health-related QOL.

Comparative StudyAssociation of Industry Payments to Physicians With the Prescribing of Brand-name Statins in Massachusetts.
Pharmaceutical industry payments to physicians may affect prescribing practices and increase costs if more expensive medications are prescribed. ⋯ Industry payments to physicians are associated with higher rates of prescribing brand-name statins. As the United States seeks to rein in the costs of prescription drugs and make them less expensive for patients, our findings are concerning.
