Case ReportsParacetamol orodispersible tablets: a risk for severe poisoning in children?
Childhood paracetamol (acetaminophen) ingestion with subsequent risk of hepatotoxicity is a major medical problem. The aim of this study was to investigate the risk of high-dose ingestion of orodispersible, fast-disintegrating paracetamol tablets in children. ⋯ Orodispersible paracetamol formulations may represent an important risk factor for severe paracetamol poisoning in children. Over-the-counter availability may contribute to increasing the use of this galenic formulation and eventually the number of poisonings in children.

The use of opioids at the end of life: knowledge level of pharmacists and cooperation with physicians.
What is the level of knowledge of pharmacists concerning pain management and the use of opioids at the end of life, and how do they cooperate with physicians? ⋯ Although the basic knowledge of most pharmacists was adequate, based on the responses to the questionnaire, there seems to be a lack of knowledge in several areas, which may hamper pharmacists in improving the quality of care when giving advice to physicians and preventing or correcting mistakes if necessary. If education is improved, a more active role of the pharmacist may improve the quality of end-of-life pharmacotherapy.

Meta AnalysisRivaroxaban versus enoxaparin for thromboprophylaxis after total hip or knee arthroplasty: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
Rivaroxaban is a newly developed oral medicine that direct inhibits factor Xa for the prevention and treatment of thromboembolic disorders. The objective of this study was to compare the efficacy and safety of rivaroxaban versus enoxaparin, a medicine routinely used for thromboprophylaxis after total hip or knee arthroplasty. ⋯ Rivaroxaban was more effective than the recommended dose of enoxaparin and had a similar safety profile for thromboprophylaxis after hip and knee arthroplasty.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffects of erythromycin on voriconazole pharmacokinetics and association with CYP2C19 polymorphism.
To assess the impacts of erythromycin on the pharmacokinetics of voriconazole and its association with CYP2C19 genotypes in healthy Chinese male subjects. ⋯ Both CYP2C19 genotypes and CYP3A4 inhibitor erythromycin can influence the plasma concentration of voriconazole, and erythromycin increases plasma concentration of voriconazole in a CYP2C19 genotype-dependent manner.
