Meta AnalysisDifferential effects of maintenance long-acting beta-agonist and inhaled corticosteroid on asthma control and asthma exacerbations.
Combination therapy with long-acting beta-agonists (LABAs)/inhaled corticosteroids (ICSs) has become established as effective maintenance treatment for asthma. ⋯ The greatest benefit and least harm of LABAs comes when they are added to a similar ICS dose in adults with symptomatic asthma.

Prevalence of viral respiratory tract infections in children with asthma.
Previous studies support a strong association between viral respiratory tract infections and asthma exacerbations. The effect of newly discovered viruses on asthma control is less well defined. ⋯ These results support the need for therapies effective against rhinovirus as a means to decrease asthma exacerbations.
