Persistence of biologic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs in patients with rheumatoid arthritis: An analysis of the South Korean National Health Insurance Database.
This study examined and compared the persistence of adalimumab, etanercept, infliximab, or abatacept as first- and subsequent-line treatment for rheumatoid arthritis in the South Korean clinical practice. ⋯ Adalimumab, etanercept, and infliximab had similar levels of persistence during the 1-year after treatment initiation, when used as first-line treatment. However, when used as a subsequent-line treatment, etanercept and abatacept had higher persistence than infliximab or adalimumab. Persistence could be a consideration when selecting the subsequent-line biologic treatment for patients with rheumatoid arthritis in South Korea.

18F-FDG PET/CT in the follow-up of large-vessel vasculitis: A study of 37 consecutive patients.
18F-FDG PET/CT has proved to be of potential value for early diagnosis of large-vessel vasculitis (LVV), which frequently involves the aorta. However, its role in the follow-up of these patients has not been well established. Our aim was to evaluate the contribution of 18F-FDG PET/CT in this clinical situation. ⋯ The results obtained in the present study highlight the impact of 18F-FDG PET/CT on the management of patients with LVV.

ReviewMultivariate pattern analysis utilizing structural or functional MRI-In individuals with musculoskeletal pain and healthy controls: A systematic review.
The purpose of this systematic review is to systematically review the evidence relating to findings generated by multivariate pattern analysis (MVPA) following structural or functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to determine if this analysis is able to: a) Discriminate between individuals with musculoskeletal pain and healthy controls, b) Predict pain perception in healthy individuals stimulated with a noxious stimulus compared to those stimulated with a non-noxious stimulus. ⋯ There is preliminary and emerging evidence that MVPA analyses of structural or functional MRI are able to discriminate between patients and healthy controls, and also discriminate between noxious and non-noxious stimulation. No prospective studies were found in this review to allow determination of the prognostic or diagnostic capabilities or treatment responsiveness of these analyses. Future studies would also benefit from combining various behavioural, genotype and phenotype data into analyses to assist with development of sensitive and specific signatures that could guide future individualized patient treatment options and evaluate how treatments exert their effects.

Transition to adult rheumatology care is necessary to maintain DMARD therapy in young people with juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
To evaluate the outpatient health service utilisation of young people (YP) with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) during transfer from paediatric to adult care in Germany. ⋯ One in two YP with JIA and a clear need for ongoing follow-up do not utilise adult rheumatologic care. The maintenance of JIA diagnosis and DMARD therapy depend on the utilisation of specialised care services.

Clinical algorithms for the diagnosis and prognosis of interstitial lung disease in systemic sclerosis.
Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is currently the primary cause of death in systemic sclerosis (SSc). Thoracic high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) is considered the gold standard for diagnosis. Recent studies have proposed several clinical algorithms to predict the diagnosis and prognosis of SSc-ILD. ⋯ Clinical algorithms had a good diagnostic performance for extents of SSc-ILD on HRCT with clinical and prognostic relevance (≥10% and ≥20%), and were also strongly related to mortality. Non-HRCT-based algorithms could be useful when HRCT is not available. This is the first study to replicate the prognostic algorithm proposed by Goh et al. in a developing country.
