Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyThe impact of a disease flare during tapering of DMARDs on the lives of rheumatoid arthritis patients.
To determine the impact of a disease flare on patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients, who are tapering treatment. ⋯ A disease flare influenced patients' lives, the largest effect was seen in the physical outcomes, and lasted 6 months. Although on a group level effect sizes for the separate PROMs were not always significant or larger than specific MCIDs, a disease flare can still be of great importance for individual patients.

Multicenter StudyCombined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema in systemic sclerosis: A syndrome associated with heavy morbidity and mortality.
The syndrome of combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema (CPFE) primarily due to tobacco smoking has been reported in connective tissue disease, but little is known about its characteristics in systemic sclerosis (SSc). ⋯ The CPFE syndrome is a distinct pulmonary manifestation in SSc, with higher morbidity and mortality. Early diagnosis of CPFE by chest CT in SSc patients (especially smokers) may result in earlier smoking cessation, screening for PH, and appropriate management.

Multicenter Study Comparative StudyA multicenter, open-label, comparative study of B-cell depletion therapy with Rituximab for systemic sclerosis-associated interstitial lung disease.
Rituximab (RTX) may favorably affect lung function and skin fibrosis in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc). We aimed to assess long-term efficacy and safety of RTX in SSc compared to standard treatment. ⋯ Our data indicate that RTX has a beneficial effect on lung function and skin fibrosis in patients with SSc. Randomized controlled studies are highly needed.

Multicenter StudyAnti-TNF-α therapy in refractory uveitis associated with sarcoidosis: Multicenter study of 17 patients.
To assess anti-TNF-α therapy response in uveitis associated with sarcoidosis refractory to conventional immunosuppressive therapy. ⋯ Anti-TNF-α therapy is effective in sarcoid uveitis patients refractory to conventional immunosuppressive therapy. Infliximab and adalimumab allowed a substantial reduction in prednisone dose despite having failed standard therapy.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyLong-term safety, tolerability, and efficacy of duloxetine in the treatment of fibromyalgia.
To assess the long-term safety, tolerability, and efficacy of duloxetine in patients with fibromyalgia. ⋯ These findings support a positive risk/benefit profile for duloxetine in the long-term treatment of fibromyalgia.
