A novel method of clinical first tarsometatarsal joint hypermobility testing and radiologic verification.
First tarsometatarsal joint (TMT-1) hypermobility might cause hallux valgus deformity (HV), and recurrence following surgical correction. Anatomic findings, indicating tibialis anterior tendon (TAT) involvement in TMT‑1 stabilization, led to the development of cross-glide test allowing clinical TMT‑1 stability testing. Cross-glide test function was evaluated in anatomical specimens and in the clinical setting, compared to simulated weight-bearing computer tomography (CT) analysis. ⋯ Cross-glide test allows reliable clinical TMT‑1 instability testing, via TAT tension, and is less laborious than CT analysis. We recommend TMT‑1 arthrodesis in cases with instability in clinical testing, to avoid HV recurrence.

Impact of sense of coherence on quality of life in patients with multiple sclerosis.
Aiming at finding an effective way of empowering patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) to cope with their disease, the objective of the study was to explore the impact of sense of coherence (SOC) on their health-related quality of life (HRQoL). ⋯ Based on the results of the present study, we can propose SOC as an important and suitable intervention targeted outcome to consider in managing both aspects of MS difficulties.

Treatment of partial thickness burns of the face with Acticoat7™ : A retrospective single center study.
The face is affected in more than 50% of patients with extensive burn trauma. Effective treatment is of importance to avoid hypertrophic scarring, functional impairment and social stigmatization. ⋯ Acticoat7™ is a valuable dressing for treating superficial and deep partial thickness burn wounds of the face in an intensive care unit setting. It enables extended time intervals between dressing changes without an increased risk for complications.

Assessing the health-related quality of life in type 2 diabetes patients treated with insulin and oral antidiabetic agents.
Assessing the quality of life (QOL) for patients with type 2 diabetes is an essential part of diabetes management, especially for the evaluation of new antidiabetic treatments and glucose monitoring technologies. Accordingly, the aim of this study was to assess QOL according to treatment types. ⋯ This study showed no QOL distinctions between treatment groups in patients with type 2 diabetes; however, a large cohort study is needed to examine these groups further.

Multimethod assessing the prognosis affecting factors of hospitalized children with burns in Zunyi, southwest China.
Burns are a common type of injury in children worldwide, which cause a large number of casualties each year. This study aimed to explore the clinical epidemiological characteristics and assess the prognosis affecting factors of hospitalized children with burns using multimethods. ⋯ In southwest China children under 3 years old, scald burns are most common, and most burns occur at home. It seems that TBSA, skin grafting, age and burn depth are best predictors of the prognosis in hospitalized children with burns.
