Incidence, etiology, predictors and outcomes of suspected drug hypersensitivity reactions in a tertiary care university hospital's emergency department : A retrospective study.
Allergic drug reactions are adverse drug reactions that result from a specific immunologic response to a medication. Considering the epidemiological and clinical importance of drug allergy, this retrospective analysis focused on drug hypersensitivity in a tertiary care university hospital emergency department (ED). ⋯ Drug hypersensitivity is a common reason for tertiary centre emergency admissions. This is the largest analysis of ED drug hypersensitivity admissions so far. Beta-lactams were identified as the leading cause of drug hypersensitivity requiring ED evaluation, which also explains the peak of drug hypersensitivity cases during winter months when the use of these medications is highest.

ReviewAssociation between muscular strength and depressive symptoms : A narrative review.
There is increasing evidence for an association between low muscular strength and depressive symptoms. In this review the existing literature on the association between muscular strength and depression particularly in older people as reported in epidemiological studies is summarized. From the literature search, conducted in PubMed (January 1980-May 2018), 17 papers (8 cross-sectional and 9 longitudinal studies) were selected. ⋯ The majority of the longitudinal studies also reported that low muscular strength was independently associated with a higher risk of developing depression but more studies are needed to confirm this evidence. Furthermore, future investigations are needed to explore the exact mechanisms of muscular strength in relation to depression. Low muscular strength is a modifiable factor for depression, which is of great public health interest.

Review[Diagnosis and management of patients with diabetes and co-existing osteoporosis (Update 2019) : Common guideline of the Autrian Society for Bone and Mineral Research and the Austrian Diabetes Society].
Fragility fractures are increasingly recognized as a complication of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, with fracture risk that increases with disease duration and poor glycemic control. The identification and management of fracture risk in these patients remains challenging. ⋯ It further reviews the impact of diabetes drugs on bone tissue as well as the efficacy of osteoporosis treatments in this population. An algorithm for the identification and management of diabetic patients at increased fracture risk is proposed.

Review[Diabetes mellitus in childhood and adolescence (Update 2019)].
In contrast to adults, type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1D) is the most frequent form of diabetes in childhood and adolescence (>95%). After diagnosis the management of children and adolescents with T1D should take place in highly specialized pediatric units experienced in pediatric diabetology and not in private practices. ⋯ The Austrian working group for pediatric endocrinology and diabetes (APEDÖ) recommends a metabolic goal of HbA1c ≤7.0%, International Federation for Clinical Chemistry (IFCC) <53 mmol/mol, for all pediatric age groups without the presence of severe hypoglycemia. Age-related physical, cognitive and psychosocial development, avoidance of acute diabetes-related complications (severe hypoglycemia, diabetic ketoacidosis) and prevention of diabetes-related late complications to ensure high quality of life are the main goals of diabetes treatment in all pediatric age groups.
