Multicenter StudyRelationship between GPS-based community mobility data and orthopedic trauma admissions during the COVID-19 pandemic in Austria: a multicenter analysis.
The main objective of this study was to examine the relationship between mobility patterns during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and orthopedic trauma patients in Austria. Utilizing global positioning system (GPS)-based mobility data, the attempt was to assess both the impact of COVID-19 lockdowns on reducing orthopedic trauma patients and the degree of compliance to the imposed movement restrictions. ⋯ Analyses of GPS-based mobility patterns show a correlation with trauma patient numbers. These findings can be used to develop prediction models, leading to better resource planning and public health policy, enhancing patient care and cost-effectiveness, especially in the event of future pandemics. Furthermore, the results suggest that compliance to mobility restrictions decreased over time during the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in increased mobility and trauma patients.

Multicenter StudyProspective use of molecular minimal residual disease for risk stratification in children and adolescents with acute lymphoblastic leukemia : Long-term results of the AIEOP-BFM ALL 2000 trial in Austria.
Since 1979 Austrian children and adolescents with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) have been treated according to protocols of the Berlin-Frankfurt-Münster (BFM) study group. The Associazione Italiana di Ematologia e Oncologia Pediatrica and BFM (AIEOP-BFM) ALL 2000 study was designed to prospectively study patient stratification into three risk groups using minimal residual disease (MRD) on two time points during the patient's early disease course. The MRD levels were monitored by detection of clone-specific rearrangements of the immunoglobulin and T‑cell receptor genes applying a quantitative polymerase chain reaction-based technique. ⋯ Event-free survival for patients with precursor B‑cell and T‑cell ALL were 84 ± 2% (n = 521) and 84 ± 4% (n = 87; p = 0.460), respectively. The MRD assessment was feasible in 94% of the patients and allowed the definition of precursor B‑cell ALL patients with a low, intermediate or high risk of relapse even on top of clinically relevant subgroups. A similar finding with respect to MRD relevance in T‑ALL patients was not possible due to the small number of patients and events. Since this pivotal international AIEOP-BFM ALL 2000 trial, molecular response to treatment has been continuously used with additional refinements to stratify patients into different risk groups in all successive trials of the AIEOP-BFM ALL study group.

Multicenter StudyEfficacy of cx601 (darvadstrocel) for the treatment of perianal fistulizing Crohn's disease-A prospective nationwide multicenter cohort study.
The use of mesenchymal stem cells is considered a novel and promising therapeutic option for patients with perianal fistulizing Crohn's disease; however, data on its clinical application remain scarce. This multicenter nationwide study aimed to assess the clinical efficacy of mesenchymal stem cells in closing complex anal fistulas. ⋯ Darvadstrocel is a safe, minimally invasive surgical technique without significant perioperative complications. Clinical success can be expected in about half of the treated patients.

Multicenter StudyELIMINATE: a PCR record-based macroelimination project for systematic recall of HCV-RNA-positive persons in Austria.
Micro-elimination projects targeted to specific hepatitis C virus (HCV) risk populations have been successful. Systematic identification of persons with HCV viremia, regardless of risk group, based on already available laboratory records may represent an effective macroelimination approach to achieve global HCV elimination. ⋯ This ELIMINATE project based on systematic assessment of HCV-RNA PCR-records, identified 6006 persons with potential persisting HCV viremia. Invalid contact data and missed visits for treatment evaluation were the main barriers towards HCV elimination within this project. Importantly, many subjects with HCV viremia lost to follow-up were successfully linked to care and started antiviral treatment.

Multicenter StudyIs the prognosis of traumatic critically ill pediatric patients predictable? : A multicenter retrospective analysis.
In this retrospective study the effects of the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), monocyte to lymphocyte ratio (MLR), mean platelet volume to platelet count ratio (MPV/PC) values as well as C‑reactive protein (CRP) and procalcitonin (PCT) levels on the severity and mortality in critically ill child trauma cases were evaluated. ⋯ The NLR, MLR, and MPV/PC values do not predict the severity of the trauma in children. In children with severe trauma, low MLR and high MPV/PC values can be used to predict mortality.
