Internal consistency, stability, and validity of the spinal cord injury version of the multidimensional pain inventory.
To evaluate the internal consistency, stability, and construct validity of a spinal cord injury (SCI) version of the Multidimensional Pain Inventory (MPI-SCI). ⋯ The MPI-SCI appears to be a reasonable measure for evaluating chronic pain impact after SCI. In clinical trials, however, supplementary instruments should be included to assess changes in affect, social support, and perceptions of life control.

Expiratory muscle strength training in persons with multiple sclerosis having mild to moderate disability: effect on maximal expiratory pressure, pulmonary function, and maximal voluntary cough.
To determine the effect of expiratory muscle strength training (EMST) on maximal expiratory strength, pulmonary function, and maximal voluntary cough in persons with multiple sclerosis (MS) having mild to moderate disability. ⋯ EMST is a viable tool to enhance the strength of the respiratory muscles. However, further work is needed to determine the best parameters to assess change in cough following EMST.

The association of balance capacity and falls self-efficacy with history of falling in community-dwelling people with chronic stroke.
To describe the frequency of falls; to relate capacity-based and self-efficacy measures to fall history; and to determine to what extent capacity-based and self-efficacy measures are explained by subject characteristics and stroke impairments. ⋯ Balance and falls-related self-efficacy are associated with fall history and should be addressed in people with chronic stroke.
