Changes in intervertebral disk dimensions after a loading task and the relationship with stature change measurements.
Lewis SE, Fowler NE. Changes in intervertebral disk dimensions after a loading task and the relationship with stature change measurements. ⋯ The results were supportive of the use of stadiometry as an indirect measure of changes in intervertebral disk height.

Multicenter Study Comparative StudyRacial differences in employment outcome after traumatic brain injury at 1, 2, and 5 years postinjury.
Gary KW, Arango-Lasprilla JC, Ketchum JM, Kreutzer JS, Copolillo A, Novack TA, Jha A. Racial differences in employment outcome after traumatic brain injury at 1, 2, and 5 years postinjury. ⋯ Short- and long-term employment is not favorable for people with TBI regardless of race; however, blacks fare worse in employment outcomes compared with whites. Rehabilitation professionals should work to improve return to work for all persons with TBI, with special emphasis on addressing specific needs of blacks.

Randomized Controlled TrialInspiratory muscle strength as a determinant of functional capacity early after coronary artery bypass graft surgery.
Stein R, Maia CP, Silveira AD, Chiappa GR, Myers J, Ribeiro JP. Inspiratory muscle strength as a determinant of functional capacity early after coronary artery bypass graft surgery. ⋯ A 6-day rehabilitation program attenuated the postoperative reduction in respiratory muscle strength and also improved the recovery of functional capacity after CABG. The correlation between PImax and Vo(2)peak during the late postoperative period suggests that inspiratory muscle strength is an important determinant of functional capacity after CABG.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffect of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation over the hand motor cortical area on central pain after spinal cord injury.
Kang BS, Shin HI, Bang MS. Effect of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation over the hand motor cortical area on central pain after spinal cord injury. ⋯ The therapeutic efficacy of rTMS was not demonstrated when rTMS was applied to the hand motor cortical area in patients with chronic neuropathic pain at multiple sites in the body, including the lower limbs, trunk, and pelvis. However, the results for worst pain reduction suggest that further studies are required in which rTMS is applied with a more intensive stimulation protocol.

Comparative Study Clinical TrialGroup physiotherapy provides similar outcomes for participants after joint replacement surgery as 1-to-1 physiotherapy: a sequential cohort study.
Coulter CL, Weber JM, Scarvell JM. Group physiotherapy provides similar outcomes for participants after joint replacement surgery as 1-to-1 physiotherapy: a sequential cohort study. ⋯ This trial suggests that the class-based exercise rehabilitation was the most efficient method of delivery of the physiotherapy service, without cost to patient outcomes.
