Randomized Controlled TrialEffects of phonophoresis of piroxicam and ultrasound on symptomatic knee osteoarthritis.
To compare the effects of phonophoresis of piroxicam (PhP) and ultrasound therapy (UT) in patients with mild to moderate, symptomatic knee osteoarthritis (OA). ⋯ Our results indicated that PhP was significantly more effective than UT in reducing pain and tended to improve knee functioning in Kellgren-Lawrence grades I to III knee OA. PhP is suggested as a new, effective method for treatment of symptomatic knee OA.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyExercise and manual physiotherapy arthritis research trial (EMPART) for osteoarthritis of the hip: a multicenter randomized controlled trial.
To determine the effectiveness of exercise therapy (ET) compared with ET with adjunctive manual therapy (MT) for people with hip osteoarthritis (OA); and to identify if immediate commencement of treatment (ET or ET+MT) was more beneficial than a 9-week waiting period for either intervention. ⋯ Self-reported function, hip ROM, and patient-perceived improvement occurred after an 8-week program of ET for patients with OA of the hip. MT as an adjunct to exercise provided no further benefit, except for higher patient satisfaction with outcome.

Randomized Controlled TrialTreatment effects of ultrasound-guided capsular distension with hyaluronic acid in adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder.
To investigate the efficacy of ultrasound-guided intra-articular (IA) hyaluronic acid injection with capsular distension compared with steroid injection alone in patients with adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder by assessing pain relief, functional improvements, and range of motion at 2 and 6 weeks after final injections. ⋯ Capsular distension with IA hyaluronic acid injection was shown to be a treatment method as effective as the steroid injection alone in pain relief and functional improvement; additionally, it was more effective in passive external rotation improvement than steroid injection alone.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe effectiveness of a deep water aquatic exercise program in cancer-related fatigue in breast cancer survivors: a randomized controlled trial.
To investigate the effectiveness of an 8-week aquatic program on cancer-related fatigue, as well as physical and psychological outcomes in breast cancer survivors. ⋯ An aquatic exercise program conducted in deep water was effective for improving cancer-related fatigue and strength in breast cancer survivors.

Randomized Controlled TrialHome-based functional exercises aimed at managing kinesiophobia contribute to improving disability and quality of life of patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty: a randomized controlled trial.
To compare the improvement in disability, kinesiophobia, pain, and quality of life obtained by means of home-based functional exercises aimed at managing kinesiophobia with that obtained by giving subjects undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) advice to stay active after discharge from a rehabilitation unit. ⋯ A home-based program based on functional exercises and the management of kinesiophobia was useful in changing the course of disability, fear-avoidance beliefs, pain, and the quality of life in patients with TKA.
