Review Meta AnalysisIs extracorporeal shock wave therapy clinical efficacy for relief of chronic, recalcitrant plantar fasciitis? A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized placebo or active-treatment controlled trials.
To assess the efficacy of extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) and provide clinicians with an evidence base for their clinical decision making. ⋯ The efficacy of low-intensity ESWT is worthy of recognition. The short-term pain relief and functional outcomes of this treatment are satisfactory. However, owing to the lack of a long-term follow-up, its long-term efficacy remains unknown.

Controlled Clinical TrialEffect of interferential current stimulation in management of hemiplegic shoulder pain.
To study the immediate effects of interferential current stimulation (IFC) on shoulder pain and pain-free passive range of motion (PROM) of the shoulder in people with hemiplegic shoulder pain (HSP). ⋯ This study provides evidence that IFC is effective for the relief of pain during movement and also increases the pain-free PROM of the shoulder in people with HSP.

Psychometric properties of the Brief Fatigue Inventory in community-dwelling older adults.
To investigate the psychometric properties of the Brief Fatigue Inventory (BFI) in community-dwelling older adults. ⋯ Fatigue is a common and debilitating symptom in the aging population. The current study provides novel findings in validating and establishing a bidimensional factor structure for the BFI in older adults. Severity and interference were differentially related to important health outcomes; therefore, using these subscales in addition to the total BFI score is recommended with older adults. Because of its relatively short administration time and established psychometric properties, the BFI can be successfully incorporated into longitudinal studies and clinical trials.

Relationship between sleep, pain, and disability in patients with spinal pathology.
To characterize sleep and its relationship with disability and pain in patients with spine pathology. ⋯ Despite its being intuitive that sleep disorders will be present in patients with spinal disorders, it was surprising that sleep quality was an independent predictor of disability along with pain. Furthermore, sleep quality is more closely correlated to disability than leg pain, which is the current focus of medical interventions.

Utilization of behavioral therapy services long-term after traumatic brain injury in young children.
To examine associations of clinical need, defined by elevated parent ratings of child behavior problems and utilization of behavioral health services in young children with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and an orthopedic injury (OI) comparison group. ⋯ The results document unmet long-term behavioral health needs after both TBI and OI in children and underscore the importance of monitoring and treatment of postinjury behavior problems.
