Implementing Patient-Reported Outcome Measures in Outpatient Rehabilitation Settings: A Systematic Review of Facilitators and Barriers Using the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research.
This systematic review examines the facilitators and barriers to the use of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) in outpatient rehabilitation settings and provides strategies to improve care to maximize patient outcomes. ⋯ More barriers than facilitators have been identified, which is consistent with PROM underuse. Clinicians and administrators should find opportunities to overcome the barriers identified and leverage the facilitators to improve routine PROM use and maximize patient outcomes.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyDiscrete and dynamic postoperative pain catastrophizing trajectories across 6 months: A prospective observational study.
To investigate pain catastrophizing presentations up to 6 months postoperatively and subsequent changes in pain intensity and physical function. ⋯ Findings suggest that preoperative pain catastrophizing scores alone may not be adequate for estimating long-term patient-reported outcomes during postoperative rehabilitation. Pain catastrophizing has a dynamic presentation and is associated with changes in pain intensity and physical function up to 6 months postoperatively. Routine assessments can inform the delivery of early interventions to surgical patients at risk of experiencing a pain catastrophizing trajectory associated with suboptimal outcomes during rehabilitation.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe Effect of Proprioceptive Exercises on Balance and Physical Function in Institutionalized Older Adults: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
To evaluate the efficacy of a proprioceptive exercise program on functional mobility, musculoskeletal endurance, dynamic and static balance, gait, and risk of falls in institutionalized older adults. ⋯ A proprioceptive exercise program demonstrated significant improvements compared with the control group in areas such as functional mobility, musculoskeletal endurance, balance, gait, and risk of falls in institutionalized older adults. This study may help to enhance our understanding of the impact of a specific protocol for a proprioceptive rehabilitation program.

Longitudinal Monitoring of Pain Associated Distress With the Optimal Screening for Prediction of Referral and Outcome Yellow Flag Tool: Predicting Reduction in Pain Intensity and Disability.
To investigate the Optimal Screening for Prediction of Referral and Outcome Yellow Flag (OSPRO-YF) tool for longitudinal monitoring of pain associated distress with the goal of improving prediction of 50% reduction in pain intensity and disability outcomes. ⋯ These results suggested that longitudinal monitoring improved prediction accuracy for reduction in pain intensity but not for disability reduction. Differences in OSPRO-YF item sets (10 vs 17 items) or scoring methods (simple summary score vs yellow flag count) did not affect predictive accuracy for pain intensity, providing flexibility for implementing this tool in practice settings.
