Comparative StudyOutcome 3 to 5 years after moderate to severe traumatic brain injury.
To investigate neuropsychologic, emotional, and functional status and quality of life (QOL) 3 to 5 years after moderate to severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). ⋯ The results provide representative estimates of long-term morbidity in patients with TBI involving intracranial lesions. The magnitude of morbidity was high. Although direct costs of TBI have received the most attention, the long-term consequences and their cost implications are much larger, unfold over time, and are borne by the survivors, their families, and the public subsidy system.

An investigation into the analgesic effects of different frequencies of the amplitude-modulated wave of interferential current therapy on cold-induced pain in normal subjects.
To investigate the analgesic effects of different amplitude-modulated frequencies of interferential current therapy (IFT) on cold-induced pain in healthy subjects. ⋯ Experimentally induced cold pain was not influenced by IFT frequencies.

Relation of postvoid residual to urinary tract infection during stroke rehabilitation.
To examine (1) risk factors for urinary tract infection (UTI) during stroke rehabilitation and (2) the relation of postvoid residual (PVR) to the frequency of UTI. ⋯ The optimal PVR for initiating bladder catheterization during stroke rehabilitation remains unknown, but the risk of UTI increases only when 2 or more ultrasound PVR readings are more than 150mL.
