Reliability, validity, and responsiveness of the modified Kapandji index for assessment of functional mobility of the rheumatoid hand.
To determine the reliability, validity, and responsiveness of the modified Kapandji index (MKI). ⋯ The MKI has excellent validity and reliability. Individual changes in the score are clinically relevant. This index can be used in clinical practice and in therapeutic trials; it needs further study concerning its use for hand surgery.

The audible pop is not necessary for successful spinal high-velocity thrust manipulation in individuals with low back pain.
To determine the relationship between an audible pop and symptomatic improvement with spinal manipulation in patients with low back pain (LBP). ⋯ There is no relationship between an audible pop during SI region manipulation and improvement in ROM, pain, or disability in individuals with nonradicular LBP. Additionally, the occurrence of a pop did not improve the odds of a dramatic improvement with manipulation treatment.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Clinical TrialExtracorporeal shock wave therapy for chronic calcific tendinitis of the shoulders: a functional and sonographic study.
To evaluate the therapeutic effect of extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) in shoulders with chronic calcific tendinitis, to compare the functional outcomes of ESWT and transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation (TENS) therapy, and to investigate which types of calcium deposit effectively respond to ESWT. ⋯ ESWT is more effective in the treatment of chronic calcific tendinitis of the shoulder than is TENS therapy, especially for arc-type calcific plaque.

Motor branch of the rectus femoris: anatomic location for selective motor branch block in stiff-legged gait.
To determine the ideal target point for selective motor branch block of the rectus femoris to treat stiff-legged gait. ⋯ The point T is the most suitable target point to selectively block the motor branch of the rectus femoris without affecting the other 3 motor branches of the femoral nerve in the treatment of stiff-legged gait.
